“We hope our voices will be heard.”<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

That was the final sentiment Ahmed Alqadhi of SYS Organization shared during a recent webinar with GlobalGiving CEO Victoria Vrana<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Ahmed leads SYS Organization<\/a> in Yemen, where the sudden halt in USAID funding has intensified an already dire situation. With over 80% of the population in need of aid and more than 3 million children now out of school, the challenges are overwhelming. Yet, Ahmed and his team persist\u2014launching community-driven projects that prioritize education and livelihoods, two things the funding cuts have taken away from so many. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot overcome the situation overnight, but we are trying.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But Ahmed remains focused. For him, the people they serve aren\u2019t just beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are talking about difficult things, but the work continues, when you are talking about serving your neighbors, family, friends.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At the heart of their response is a commitment to education\u2014what Ahmed calls \u201cthe shortest way to peace.\u201d Programs like \u201cFeeding 1,000 Girls in Yemen\u201d are helping girls stay in school despite the upheaval. <\/p>\n

\u201cEducate a girl, educate a nation,\u201d Ahmed shared, underscoring the long-term vision behind their efforts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

SYS is also responding to the USAID cuts by expanding their programs to include microfinance and vocational training so young people can have a chance to build financial independence and stability during these uncertain times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also want to work with the private sector to build more capacities for communities\u2014both local and international organizations,\u201d Ahmed explained. \u201cThe collaboration process is something we have been hearing from many of our partners,\u201d Victoria noted. \u201cBut still, it takes time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ongoing donations from people and companies through platforms like GlobalGiving helps make their support possible. \u201cThe collaboration with GlobalGiving is crucial,\u201d Ahmed shared. \u201cIt gives us the flexibility to continue providing life-saving assistance, even with reduced capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked how others can help, his answer was simple and clear: support what communities say they need. \u201cProvide nutrition, offer safety, and train teachers in methodologies and songs,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
