1. An intensifying humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Lebanon. <\/h3>\n

Lebanon is facing a severe humanitarian crisis as conflict between Israel and the Lebanon-based and Iran-backed group, Hezbollah, escalates. Lebanese officials have said that more than 2,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks, and over 1.2 million displaced. Social services, particularly hospitals, are overwhelmed. Lebanon is already hosting one of the world\u2019s largest per capita refugee populations, including an estimated 1.5 million Syrian refugees which had accounted for nearly a quarter of the country\u2019s population. Now more than 250,000 people have crossed into Syria, with seventy per cent being Syrians who had previously sought safety in Lebanon. <\/p>\n

Lebanon\u2019s Prime Minister warned that the country is facing \u201cone of the most dangerous phases\u201d in its history, while fears of wider regional conflict grow.
