I<\/big><\/strong>n Mexico, Paloma Bonfil wants to create a space for women\u2019s voices in disaster recovery.<\/p>\n

In Nepal, Rudra Bahadur Neupane wants communities outside the Kathmandu Valley to be prepared for another high-magnitude earthquake.<\/p>\n

In Texas, Tiffany Stafford wants everyone to understand that it will take years for some families to recover from Hurricane Harvey.<\/p>\n

Meet GlobalGiving\u2019s 2018 Disaster Feedback Fellows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These 10 fellows from community-based nonprofits spent one week in Washington, D.C., in early October learning from each other, promoting their disaster recovery projects to peers and funders, and speaking at and attending the 2018 Feedback Summit.<\/p>\n

The Disaster Recovery Team at GlobalGiving<\/a> funded the fellowship to foster collaboration and community feedback in disaster recovery projects around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no more crucial time to foster this exchange than now, as disasters are increasing in frequency and severity around the world,\u201d said Britt Lake, GlobalGiving\u2019s Chief Program Officer and the Director of the Disaster Recovery Team.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Disaster Recovery Team at GlobalGiving is pioneering a model of effective, community-led relief and recovery through locally focused grants, information exchange, and training programs.<\/p>\n

During the Feedback Summit, fellows shared the innovative ways they collect feedback from the people they serve and learned new ways to integrate feedback into their everyday work.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you talk to people, you listen to people, you can actually design a better program, which has a bigger impact. Through all these processes, you make them a part of your journey so they have the ownership,\u201d said Korvi Rakshand, a 2018 Disaster Feedback Fellow and the Founder of the JAAGO Foundation in Bangladesh.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fellows described their experiences at the summit and their training at GlobalGiving, which included sessions in data management and marketing, as enriching.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very greatly honored to be chosen as one of the fellows. I\u2019ve learned so much, especially about interventions other NGOs use,\u201d said Cora Sayre, Co-Founder of Water, Agroforestry, Nutrition and Development Foundation (WAND).<\/p>\n

Tiffany of Target Hunger added: \u201cThe GlobalGiving Disaster Feedback Fellowship and Feedback Labs Summit were life changing: Personally and professionally. I am filled with gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n
