The UBECI<\/a> team was concerned about the dental health of the children they serve. The children were in need of care\u2014from as routine as teeth cleaning to as serious as oral surgery. The team was worried that poor dental health hindered children\u2019s participation in educational programming. They wanted to start a dental program, but they didn\u2019t have adequate funds.<\/p>\n The team set out to raise the funds they needed. Their first step was to set a SMART goal<\/a>\u2014something Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time-Bound. Using the SMART approach, the team was able to pinpoint and map out exactly what they wanted to accomplish and what they needed to succeed.<\/p>\n Ultimately, the UBECI\u2019s dental program has been able to reach hundreds of children. The team learned that strategic goal setting can take what may seem like an insurmountable task and make it achievable. They shared what they learned with GlobalGiving: <\/p>\n “We learned the potency of the SMART analysis tool, thus allowing UBECI to be able to better meet our intentional goal for this particular campaign.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n UBECI aims to grow their dental program, reaching more children in their community.
