Pledge of Support For U.S. Foreign Aid:

Today, I add my name to this statement of support for preserving U.S. foreign aid to vulnerable communities around the world.

To meet 21st-century challenges, U.S. public policies must align with the generosity of American citizens. It is critical that we understand and accept our moral obligation to the global community.

When we help each other, we set in a motion a positive ripple effect and make the future of vulnerable communities around the world infinitely brighter. We make the future of Americans brighter, too. Brighter because, together, we have diminished the capability of disease, poverty, and disaster to derail dreams. Brighter because we’re sharing information and aspirations. Brighter because in communities where individuals can make better lives for themselves, it is more difficult for extremism to take hold.

A sense of unity and a shared purpose make us all stronger and safer. Lives depend on it. And though borders separate us, we are all connected.

I am a member of the global community, and I stand with my neighbors around the world.
