Ready, Set, Give showcases projects that are using sport to address challenging issues and bring positive social change in countries all over the world. Whether building women and girls' strength and self-esteem, inspiring and energizing homeless individuals to change their own lives, or producing soccer balls that carry awareness messages about malaria and HIV/AIDS - these projects are employing sports to positively affect communities in an engaging way.
From July 1 - 22, sports-related projects on GlobalGiving will compete to attract donors and generate donations for their projects. The top three projects (in terms of number of unique donors) will earn additional bounty prizes of $2,500, $1,500, and $500, respectively. You can track the results, real time, on the Ready, Set, Give Challenge Leaderboard!
In addition, individuals supporting these projects will be entered into a drawing to win one of five backpacks generously donated by The North Face (no donation required - see Terms & Conditions for alternative ways to enter).
The "Ready Set Give" Challenge is for pre-selected, sports-themed projects on GlobalGiving to generate donations for their projects between July 1, 2009 (12:01 EDT) and July 22, 2009 (11:59 pm EDT).
The three projects generating the most unique donations will receive supplementary cash bonuses from GlobalGiving of $2,500, $1,500 and $500, respectively. In the event that multiple projects competing in the "Ready Set Give" Challenge are "tied" as far as number of unique donors, the project with the most funds raised will be considered the leader.
Bounty awards will be disbursed to projects, along with all funds raised, within 30 days of the Challenge's conclusion.
Online donations will be accepted through 11: 59 pm EDT on July 22, 2009. Checks received through July 21 will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after July 21 will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the bounty competition. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.
Please note that we are not able to accept cash donations. Two checks issued from the same bank account will be counted as one unique donor. The same credit card may be used for multiple donations however this will count as one unique donor. Please be aware that we will be monitoring activity to assure fairness for all participants. Similarly, online donations are considered unique if they are made from separate email addresses. Please note that GlobalGiving maintains the right to make a final decision on all matters concerning the adjudication of unique donations and final results of the "Ready Set Give" Challenge.
Individuals making a contribution to any of the projects featured in the "Ready Set Give" Challenge will be entered in a contest ("Contest") to win one of five (5) backpacks from The North Face (estimated retail value is $89 each). No purchase necessary. Those not making a donation can enter the contest by mailing a postcard to GlobalGiving, 1110 Vermont Avenue NW, Suite 550, Washington, DC 20005 containing the following information: Name, mailing address, email address, and phone number and the words "Ready Set Give."
