If your heart’s been breaking this week after seeing images of the escalating
crisis facing Syrian refugees, you’re not alone. More importantly, though,
you’re not without the power to help.
Since the conflict in Syria began in 2011, more than 4 million people have fled
the country, making it the largest exodus of refugees in more than 20 years.
After escaping violence at home, they’ve faced new challenges abroad: dangerous,
often deadly journeys in search of a safe haven; overcrowded refugee camps where
basic necessities like water, shelter, and food are often scarce; and unwelcoming
host countries where opportunities to settle are limited.
As much as we all might want to follow the inspiring lead of the thousands of
Icelanders who’ve offered to open their homes to those in need, not all of
us can. What you can do today is
donate to GlobalGiving’s Syrian Refugee Relief Fund. More than a dozen
of our vetted partners have been working tirelessly to help refugees since the
crisis began, but they’ve been vastly under-funded, and as the crisis has
escalated, they can’t keep up.
SUPPORT SYRIAN REFUGEES
As always, when you show your support in times of crisis through GlobalGiving,
you’ll receive regular updates about the important work that your donation
is funding and the impact it’s having for those in need.
Thank you for your generosity,
