It’s now been one year since the Ebola outbreak began in West Africa. Since then, Ebola has claimed more than 10,000 lives.
Although it may have faded from the headlines, reports of new Ebola cases are on the rise for the first time in months. Survivors face stigma when they return to their communities. Countless children have lost parents to the disease and had their education disrupted by school closures.
It’s vital that we get the number of cases to zero to prevent Ebola from spreading again.
That’s why, starting today, we’re matching donations to support Ebola fighters on GlobalGiving.
Since the outbreak began, we’ve partnered with 40 locally driven organizations in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone who’ve been battling Ebola from all angles:
- Delivering direct medical care to Ebola patients
- Shipping personal protective equipment to doctors and nurses
- Educating communities about the virus, door-to-door and on the airwaves
- Finding safe, caring homes for children orphaned by the outbreak
- Deploying innovative technology to assist aid workers
- Ensuring children continue their education while schools are closed
- Providing psychosocial support to survivors returning home
Help us make sure all of that vital work continues. Donate today to any of our Ebola-fighting partners and your donation will be matched. Together we’ll see the end of the outbreak and help rebuild a stronger West Africa and global community.
Warmly,
Will Frechette and the GlobalGiving Team
