Return to Lesvos (Feb 2020)

Conditions for refugees on the Greek island of Lesvos have deteriorated since my last visit (Jan 2019). Essential infrastructure has been closed down, camps are desperately overcrowded and inhabitants of the island are at the end of their tether. All of which makes the work of Lighthouse Relief on the north shore of the island even more essential: from round-the-clock boat spotting, to assistance at landings, providing a dignified welcome to scared, scarred people and helping ease the situation for residents with beach-cleaning and other activities – this wonderful organisation deserves to be supported. Please give generously to allow Lighthouse to continue its vital work.
Dalla mia prima visita a Lesbo (gennaio 2019) la situazione per i rifugiati sull'isola è peggiorata ulteriormente: smantellamento dell'infrastruttura d'accoglienza, campi sovrafollati e una popolazione locale che si sente sotto tiro. Tutto ciò rende sempre più importante il lavoro svolto sulla costa nord dell'isola da Lighthouse Relief: 'spotting' (veglia sulla costa, notte e giorno), primo soccorso, un'accoglienza dignitosa per rifugiati terrorizzati e supporto per i residenti attraverso operazioni per ripulire spiagge ecc. Vi chiedo di dare una mano a questa meravigliosa Ong.
