One of the paradoxes of life, "You will always see children fighting for inheritance, but you will never see them fighting to take care of their sick parents".

Family and Friends, My visit to Mrs Bernadette Iwuh in one of the rural communities in Imo State was a great lesson and a life experience. Taking care of our parents are gift from God because everyone of us will one day, sometimes will be in the same race.

Mrs Bernadette was diagnosed of symptoms of dementia in her late sixties. For more than two years, she had been losing her photographic memory, “slowly but surely,” she says. so when her photographic memory started to slip and her rate of reading and level of comprehension dropped, she knew something was wrong. Losing your memory and the sudden onset of idiosyncratic behaviours are just some of the characteristics that are associated with the natural ageing process.

Nigeria has no functional national policy on the care and welfare of older persons. Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation since three years is committed in caring for aged parents. The goal for "support 350 old people with dementia in IMO State" project on GlobalGiving is to identify rural communities in particular need of additional health care services and to curb rates of osteoarthritis, depression and dementia.

Your donation can make a difference in assisting the aged living with dementia, faced with limited or no access to key health care services. Did you know that for just $10, Sam onyemaechi Foundation through GlobalGiving little x little campaign can help restore confidence and give them hope of survival. “Join me by donating $10 for every hour you (or a loved one) needed help in life. Old age comes in all shapes and sizes, but one thing we have in common is that most of us will undergo such situations and successfully come out of it. Let’s give them sense of assurance and are in good hand, too.”
