Terms & Conditions

• The 2018 March Accelerator is a crowdfunding campaign for nonprofits to raise funds for their project between Monday, March 12th, 2018 (00:00:01 EDT) and Friday, March 30th, 2018 (23:59:59 EDT).
• Projects that raise at least $5,000 USD from at least 40 unique donors during the Accelerator and complete the due diligence approval process will be considered a graduate and a permanent partner with GlobalGiving.
• Projects that are unable to raise at least $5,000 USD from at least 40 unique donors during the Accelerator will be retired after March 30th, 2018. Projects that received at least one donation in the March Accelerator and have valid due diligence through July 2018 will be invited to participate in the June 2018 Accelerator.
• Most Funds Raised Prizes: At the conclusion of the Accelerator, the top three projects that raise the most funds will receive a bonus prize of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 USD respectively.
• Most Unique Donors Prize: At the conclusion of the Accelerator, the project with the most unique donors will be awarded an exclusive month-long Facebook + Google Ad Campaign set up by GlobalGiving’s Senior Digital Marketing Manager .
• Graduate-in-24-Hour Challenge: All organizations that graduate (raise $5,000 from 40 donors) in the first 24 hours of the Accelerator will win a $100 bonus prize.
• Promotional Prizes!
• Projects that raise more than $7,500 from 50 unique donors during the Accelerator will be featured on GlobalGiving’s social media in 2018.
• Projects that raise more than $10,000 from 60 unique donors during the Accelerator will earn a spot on GlobalGiving’s homepage for a full day in 2018.
• Projects must raise at least $5,000 USD from 40 unique donors in the March Accelerator to be eligible for prizes.
• View all participant activity and prize allocation on the main Leaderboard.
• Bonus Day! From 00:00:01 EDT to 23:59:59 EDT on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018, GlobalGiving will have a $10,000 Incentive Fund that will be proportionally divided between organizations that activate throughout the day. The projects with the most funds raised and most donors on Bonus Day will receive an additional $1,000 Bonus Prize. See full Bonus Day Terms + Conditions below and on the Bonus Day Leaderboard.
• Recurring Donations Double Count: To encourage donors to set up recurring donations in support for your project, each active, unique recurring donor to your project counts as two unique donors towards your goal of 40 unique donors and the unique donor bonus prizes. (For example: If an organization gets three unique recurring donors, those three donors will count as six unique donors towards the Accelerator graduate goal of 40.) If a recurring donation is cancelled before the end of the Accelerator, the unique donor will only count once. Recurring donations to organizations that do not become GlobalGiving partners will be automatically canceled after the conclusion of the March Accelerator.
• Recurring Donation Match: During the March Accelerator, new recurring donations up to $200 per donor per project will have their initial donation matched at 100% after the fourth donation. (Example: Your organization gets one $50 monthly donor during the March Accelerator. After their June payment, GlobalGiving will match the recurring donation at 100% with $50.) Should the recurring donation be cancelled before the fourth donation, the match will not be applied. Recurring donations made by project leaders or staff of the recipient project or organization are not eligible for matching. Recurring donations to projects of organizations that do not become GlobalGiving partners will be automatically canceled after the conclusion of the March Accelerator.
• March Accelerator Participants are eligible to compete for Record #3 in GlobalGiving's Record Breaker Challenge to win $1,000. The current record for most funds raised by an Accelerator participant is $62,833.

Donation Methods & Eligibility

• Online donations, including GlobalGiving gift cards, will be accepted throughout the duration of the Accelerator Crowdfunding Campaign. Online donations made by credit card, debit card, PayPal, and Apple Pay must be made by the account or credit card holder.
• Checks:
• Checks received in the GlobalGiving offices by Friday, March 23rd, 2018, will be included in the Accelerator and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after said date will be applied to the indicated project, but there is no guarantee they will count towards the Accelerator.
• Send checks in USD and Canadian dollars to GlobalGiving's DC office:

• Indicate on the memo line the project # and name to which the funds should be applied and include your email address if you would like to get email updates on the project.
• Amount: GlobalGiving accepts checks issued in the United States at and above $10 USD. GlobalGiving's DC office will not cash checks from outside the United States in amounts less than $100 USD or equivalent in the local currency.
• Send checks in GBP and Euros to GlobalGiving's London office:
• Make payable to: GlobalGiving UK
• Mail to: GlobalGiving UK, 6 Great James St, London, WC1N 3DA, UK
• Indicate on the memo line the project # and name to which the funds should be applied and include your email address if you would like to get email updates on the project.
• Amount: GlobalGiving accepts checks issued in the United Kingdom at and above £5 GBP. GlobalGiving's London office will not cash checks from outside the United Kingdom in amounts less than £80 GBP or equivalent in the local currency.
• Wire transfers will be treated like checks and the same rules apply.
• Cash donations and text-to-give donations will not counttowards the Accelerator thresholds.
• Please note that all donations are final. GlobalGiving cannot change the time, date, or status of a donation after it is processed for any reason.
• Any activity not in the spirit of requesting separate individuals to support donations is being moderated by GlobalGiving, and GlobalGiving reserves the right to permanently disqualify organizations for any attempts of misconduct.
• Unique donors are determined using numerous criteria, including name, email address, credit card number, mailing address, and IP address. We monitor these and other parameters in our system to ensure that only unique, distinct donors are counted towards the Accelerator thresholds and cash prizes.
• Any transactions that are reported as fraudulent and/or reversed jeopardizes your participation and GlobalGiving retains the discretion to disqualify your organization from the Accelerator.
• Funds raised through eligible partner platforms during the March Accelerator Crowdfunding Campaign may count towards the Accelerator threshold. Terms and Conditions apply.  

Disbursements:

• The exchange rate will be estimated at the time of the donation, but may be subject to change until the donation settles with the donor's bank or credit card. Funds will be disbursed using the exchange rate based on the settlement value of each transaction.
• Funds raised by US-based organizations during the Accelerator will be disbursed at the end of the April 2018. Non-US organizations that raise at least $100 USD will also receive be disbursed the funds at the end of April 2018.
• Non-US organizations that raise less than $100 USD will not receive their funds at the end of April 2018. GlobalGiving will hold these funds until the organization is able to reach the $100 USD threshold in a future Accelerator while due diligence lasts. If after two years when due diligence expires the organization has not raised a disbursable amount, GlobalGiving will reallocate the funds.
• Please note that GlobalGiving maintains the right to make a final decision on all matters concerning the adjudication of unique donors and final results of the Accelerator.

Tax-Efficient Giving, Fee, & Vetting:

• Tax-Efficient Giving: GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit charity in the United States and England and Wales. Donations made by eligible donors in the United States can be claimed as tax deductible contributions on United States tax returns. Donations made by eligible donors in the United Kingdom can claim Gift Aid (an extra 25% added to eligible donations by the UK Government) when they donate in GBP. Gift Aid does not count towards project totals in the Accelerator but will appear in your Donation Manager once payment is received from HMRC (which may take up to 2 months).

• Fees: GlobalGiving charges a 12% nonprofit support fee plus a 3% processing fee on organization’s first $5,000 raised on the platform. After organizations raise $5,000 on GlobalGiving, the nonprofit support fee is reduced to 5% for US and UK registered organizations and 7% for organizations registered outside the US and UK, and the 3% processing fee remains fixed. The fee does not apply to bonus prizes or matching funds awarded in the March Accelerator. The GlobalGiving fee helps cover the costs we incur to conduct due diligence, to promote your organization and projects, to provide you with fundraising training and tools, and to maintain and improve our online technology in order to keep you connecting with new donors.

• Interested in accessing the lower fee immediately? Participants have the option to pay a small start-up fee in advance of the Accelerator start date. Offer expires March 8th, 2018. To learn more about this offer, email accelerator@globalgiving.org.
• Vetting: Due diligence for an organization is not completed and fully approved until the end of the Accelerator. GlobalGiving may conduct additional vetting and due diligence on your organization after your project raises funds in the Accelerator. You may be required to supply additional documents or information to verify your programs during the campaign. Your organization must complete the due diligence process in order to become an Accelerator graduate and long-term partner on GlobalGiving. If, upon further review, GlobalGiving determines that your organization does not fully comply with our vetting standards, your project may be removed from the site at any time during or after the Accelerator.
