Provide essential pre and postnatal care for a Ugandan mother and receive a Babirye Tote Bag!

"Babirye" means the first-born female twin in Luganda. It is assumed she is the bigger and stronger of the two. With a base and strap of recycled denim, this tote will stand up to the wear and tear expected of your favorite grocery, beach or oversized everyday bag. Sewn by Shanti Uganda's HIV+ Women's Income Generating Group on foot-powered machines using vibrant African fabrics, this Tote is sure to be a conversation piece. The bag is fully lined, has an internal and external patch pocket and a top zipper.

With every $50 donation, The Shanti Uganda Maternity and Learning Centre will be able to provide essential pre- and postnatal care services to a mother in need. This care will ensure that she has a safe and healthy delivery when it is time for her to bring her new baby into the world. Our goal is to lower maternal and infant mortality, reduce HIV/AIDS transmission rates from mother to child, and provide access to education for Traditional Birth Attendants.
