Rahela teaching at the Dhekipara Learning Centre
Rahela teaching at the Dhekipara Learning Centre

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to share our latest report via GlobalGiving on the progress of our project to provide quality education to the marginalized children in Kishanganj district of Bihar.

The duration of the classes varies from 2 to 4 hours depending upon the availability of the children as most of them help their parents in fields or take care of their younger siblings. Azad India is trying to bring adolescent girls to the centers so that they also get good education.

Rahela our teacher at Dhekipara village is a dedicated worker who in spite of all odds running the center. She says,” the future of our community depends on these children. They need motivation and good education so that they continue schooling.” Thanks to her, many children especially girls are continuing with their education.

Shama, a thirteen-year-old girl loves coming to the center daily. She says that “ I love reading and this place provides comfort and peace where I can study.”

Some of our centers are badly damaged in the ongoing floods and heavy rains thus hampering the regular classes.

Do contribute to help us rebuilt the centers and keep these disadvantaged children into the education program. We would be grateful if you can spread the word. We really need support to continue this program.

Sewing Machine for Minnara

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Azad India!

It is my pleasure to share our latest report via Global Giving on the progress of our project to provide sewing machine to a needy girl for self-reliance in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Your generous gift to provide a needy girl in Kishanganj with a sewing machine has been life-changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering girl to rise out of poverty.

Azad India Foundation has given sewing machine to Minnara from village Inderpur; Block Pothia. She is 20 years old girl from Shershahbadi community where girls are usually not allowed to study or work. She has 7 sisters and 3 brothers. Her father is a landless laborer. Minnara completed six month stitching and tailoring course at the center run by AIF.She says, “This machine will help me in becoming self reliant. I will be able to help my parents by contributing to family income. I am really thankful to AIF and the donor.”

Azad India Foundation is running sewing center at the village Chattargach where 30 girls are learning basic stitching and tailoring. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines. This project helps them to realize their dreams.

Thank you for giving Minnara chance to succeed! Your gift will make a big impact in not only her life but given hope others as well.

Do contribute to help us give life of dignity to more disadvantaged girls and please spread the word.

Project Report

Dhekipara Learning Center
Dhekipara Learning Center

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to share our latest report via GlobalGiving on the progress of our project to provide quality education to the marginalized children in Kishanganj district of Bihar.

Azad India Foundation is currently running learning centers in Kashibari, Mahesh Mara, Dhekipara,Simalbari and Kesojhara villages with 5 teachers and 154 children enrolled under Primary Education program. The classes are held for children studying in class I to class V.The duration of the classes varies from 2 to 4 hours depending upon the availability of the children as most of them help their parents in fields or take care of their younger siblings. 65 children have joined mainstream schools in different classes from April. However they continue to come for the remedial classes. Azad India is trying to bring girls to the centers so that they also get good education.

The methodology of teaching and learning is activity and TLM based keeping in mind the need of the children.

Unfortunately we are not getting any donations for last couple of months making it difficult for us to run the other centers. It is the commitment of the teachers and community members that is running this program.

Do contribute to help us keep these disadvantaged children into the education program. We would be grateful if you can spread the word. We really need support to continue this program.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or ideas at aif_org@yahoo.co.in
