Dear Friends,

Greetings from Azad India Foundation!

It is my pleasure to share our latest report via Global Giving on the progress of our project to provide sewing machine to a needy girl for self-reliance in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Your generous gift to provide needy girls in Kishanganj with a sewing machine has been life changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering girls to rise out of poverty.

Azad India Foundation gave sewing machines to Ruby, Afsana and Bilkish from village Nezagachh,Koltha and Phoolbari from Block Pothia and Thakurganj. They are thankful to the donors for giving them a chance to improve their lives and stand on their own feet.

Azad India Foundation is running sewing center at the village Chattargach where 20 girls are learning basic stitching and tailoring in a new batch. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines. This project helps them to realize their dreams.

Thank you for giving chance to succeed! Your gift is making a big impact in not only their life but given hope others as well.

Do contribute to help us give life of dignity to more disadvantaged girls and please spread the word.

Progress Report

Marufa at Maheshmara Learning Centre
Marufa at Maheshmara Learning Centre

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to share our latest report via Global Giving on the progress of our project to provide quality education to the marginalized children in Kishanganj district of Bihar.

The last few weeks have seen floods and continuous rainfall in Kishanganj affecting studies at the learning centers.

The classes have began post rains and festival season and varies from 2 to 4 hours depending upon the availability of the children as most of them help their parents in fields or take care of their younger siblings.

Marufa our teacher at Maheshmara village is a young teacher who is running the center. She says,” learning is a continuous process and I also learn with these children.” Community support along with Marufa’s efforts is helping girls to continue their education who otherwise would have completely stopped studying.

Yasmin a smiling ten-year-old girl loves coming to the learning center with her younger sister. She says, “It is impossible to study at home as I have to do many chores. Whatever I learn here is the only time I get to open my books”.

Some of our centers are again badly damaged in the second spell heavy rains thus hampering the regular classes.

Do contribute to help us rebuilt the centers and keep these disadvantaged children into the education program. We would be grateful if you can spread the word. We really need support to continue this program.

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Azad India!

Your generous gift to provide a needy girl in Kishanganj with a sewing machine has been life-changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering girl to rise out of poverty.

Azad India Foundation had given sewing machine to Minnara from village Inderpur; Block Pothia. She belongs to Shershahbadi community where girls are usually not allowed to study or work. AIF team members revisited Minnara few days back. She is earning Rs. 700- 800 per month by stitching clothes within the village. She says, “I am happy to earn and contribute to my father’s income. The only problem I am facing right now is due to recent a flood that has made my village inaccessible for other people. Once this problem is solved I will be able to make much more.”

Azad India Foundation is running sewing center at the village Chattargach where 20 girls are learning basic stitching and tailoring in a new batch. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines.
