June marks the third month of our nesting season and also the beginning of the hatching season! In other words, this is the month where baby turtles start breaking their eggs to come out of the nest and start their journey into the ocean. By the end of June, our team has released 6,349 hawksbill hatchlings. Baby green turtles hatch by late July or early August. Also, from April to June, our team protected 1,777 hawksbill nests and 367 green turtle nests. We still have four months left of the nesting season and, our team is still working hard to protect the nests so that more hatchlings can enter the sea. With your continued support, we can reach our goal of saving 500,000 sea turtle hatchlings. Please consider becoming a monthly donor and share our project with your friends.

The nesting season 2021 has begun!
By Melania Lopez - Project leader
We are glad to announce that our fabulous team: Diana, Sarahí, Fabiola, Jalil, and René, has begun their beach surveys to protect sea turtle nests at Celestún, El Cuyo, and Holbox in the Yucatán Península. The daily night surveys started on April 8th, and by April 30th, our team has registered and protected 133 hawksbill sea turtle nests. We hope to see many hatchlings emerge from these nests in June. Thanks to your contribution, we can continue these actions and protect more nests. The nesting season will continue until October and, we have much to do until then. Please share our project with your friends, and help us have a successful nesting season.
