Exchange learning for the childre

It was a great moment for children to interact with other children from other countries. On 7th to 12th December 2013 was a memorable moment for the children from Juhudi Children In Crisis (JCIC) as they participated in the streetfootballworld East Africa festival that was held at Kitale Kenya. Through our partner organization TYSA, JCIC received an invitation to participate in this great event. Young people from Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, S. Sudan and Kenya participated. Children shared their different experiences, cultures and discussed more on the issues that affect children in either of the areas and countries that they come from. "Let me say that am very happy meeting many children playing together and sharing about our home. I have made friends from Iringa Tanzania and they are very great! I have never moved out of my village. I never thought that I will one day meet with people from other countries and eat together. Am very thankful for JCIC for supporting children like me" Andrew Nyakundi

Exposure for the girls

In most of the African cultures, girls and women are never given a chance to do some things and activities as boys and men. 5 girls from Juhudi Children In Crisis, got an opportunity to participate in the streetfootballworld East Africa festival. It was a learning moment for our girls as they interacted with their peers from Tanzania, S. Sudan, Rwanda, Congo, Uganda and Kenya. The girls also got an opportunity to play football with other girls and boys a sport activity that is perceived to be of the boys in most of the African communities and even countries.

“Am very happy to meet girls who play football and share issues that affect them openly. In my community, you cannot find girls playing just like that. I have something to tell other girls back in the village and what to share with my community. My great thanks for JCIC for supporting girls like me to see light and know where we are coming from and heading” Said Vivian. “Am happy that our girls are learning great things. This has made me be strong and focused as a young female leader who accompanied these girls” Said Ruth.

GRADUATION DAY FOR 35 ECD CHILDREN TO CLASS ONE

It was a great day for 35 children from ECD at Chepkaitit when they were having a meal together with their parents, teachers and awarded with Certificates by the Director of Juhudi Children in Crisis. Juhudi has been strongly supporting their education and seeing them moving to the next steps in life. These children have been part of the 68 children supported in getting food to keep them in school. They have been having good learning time with their teachers.

It was a challenge mentioned from the head teacher of Chepkaitit primary school where these children will be schooling, saying “we appreciate the work that has been done by Juhudi. Majority of these children are young and it is becoming a challenge to us as teachers because when it’s ten o’clock, they want to go back to kitchen to get porridge. We are therefore requesting if there is a way of supporting children in class one to also get porridge we will appreciate” Said Nemwel Nyachieo Head teacher chepkaitit primary school. “We are pleased with the support that you have given and you are still giving these children. Thanks very much director and all those behind this good work. Be blessed and continue to support more and more” Said Mama Emily a parent of one of the graduant.
