Preparations for new high school students 2015

Graduation of this year's grade 8 pupils
Graduation of this year's grade 8 pupils

It is now three years since Tumaini children started joining high school. On the 4th Nov our grade eight pupils started their final national exams. After this exam our children will be able to join high school in January 2015.

We are living in a community where out of 235,560 pupils aged between 6-14 access primary school but only 10% happen to join high school. The destiny of the 90% is just realized through the high level of poverty, prisons with many young people, drugs and high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in young people.

Donors, all the pupils who have done their exams at Tumaini School have been able to join high school. The last two years of our primary national exams have been successful, all the pupils passed their exams and all are in high school, second and first year of high school. This year is our third year and we have 24 pupils who have just graduated and are now sitting for their exams.

We are very confident that all are going to pass their exams. This is because of their performance in trial interschool exams. First semester, our pupils became position 5 out of 123 schools, second, position two and third semester they became position one. This is actually better than last year and we are expecting better results in their final national exam.

What is making all these to happen, what is behind all these successful stories? Donors, you are all behind these successful stories. This has been achieved because of your commitment in supporting these children. Your monthly sponsorship and other donations have brought a smile on these faces. We are all grateful for the happiness you have brought in the lives of our children and our community.

Next year is another year which we will have these new students joining high school. As you all know our high school fee is high and that is why many students are not able to continue with their education. It is in this regard that I am requesting you to take a moment and share with your friends, families, clubs, social pages and churches about our cause. The word of mouth will work better and this will enable us pay the fees our children will need in January.

Global giving is giving us another opportunity to fundraise through the end year campaign challenge which will be matched and this may give as opportunity to get funds for the high school fees. Please take your time to share this with friends and let’s join this campaign to prepare for the next year.

Donors, you have enlightened the lives of our children and we are grateful. Thank you once again and on behalf of Tumaini family, I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Pre-primary graduation

Our Pre primary kids graduating to primary school!
Our Pre primary kids graduating to primary school!

It is another time of the year when many things happening including the education sector. It was fun and adventure for our young pupils to realize that they were actually joining the primary school and they were no longer babies. It was an adventure to see how happy we were to see them jump over!

These young once started their school in baby class between the age of 2 and 3, after one year they joined middle class and the third year they joined pre- school. All these years have been an adventure for them. They are excited and happy start the new life in primary school. They are well prepared and they love school.
I believe it is also an adventure for you our beloved donors! These children are the way they are just because you did something. You provided the porridge they needed at 10 o’clock to keep them going. You provided the lunch they needed to remain in school; you provided the happiness they needed to enjoy learning. I know seeing them like this is truly an adventure, it is a good feeling, it is something to be remembered for forever!

Your recurring sponsorship for our children is making a huge difference in the lives of these children and we can see it every year. It doesn’t matter how small or big it is, but the difference, the results are just tremendous! The children are having the greatest learning environment, they are fed and they remain in school all the school days. Our teachers are doing a great job and all is because of you. You have made us achieve these and as the time goes by, we will realize the difference in our community.

As usual the need is high and we are doing what we can to make this happen. I believe if we will continue to share the word with our friends and friends our friends, we will be able to reach those who are still on the queue, hoping to find help. Global giving have several matches this month and next month, consider sharing with friends so that we can be able to expand our resources to do better. A word of mouth, sharing on your social pages will make this happen, let us get involved in this campaign to raise funds for these children.
Once again thank you so much for being part of this cause and may you have a wonderful MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Official opening of the Trade School

Children performing during the opening
Children performing during the opening

The trade school was officially opened and commissioned on the 26th Sept 2014!  It was a great day and we had 400 adults and 300 children during this celebration.  The even was colourful and the guest of honour was the Deputy High Commissioner of Australia to Kenya.

We have started with the following courses: Fashion and Design, Masonry, Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing and Computer Skills.  We have 10 sewing machines, some carpentry tools and masonry tools.  We still don't have computers but the classroom is ready.  We already have 5 students who are doing Fashion and Design and we are looking forward to having more as we have just opened.

We are hoping to support the orphans who never made it to high school because of lack of school fees and are at home.  The trade school is not only giving skills but will give counseling to the youth who have lost hope in their lives.  We are looking forward to the construction of boarding facilities and more workshops to help us get students from other communities.

We wouldn't have come this far without your efforts and commitments.  We sincerely thank you all for making this happen.  We have no words to express the joy but know that you have done a wonderful job towards the Lurale Hill County Polytechnic.  We are looking forward to chainging lives of the youth especially the orphans and vulnerable.

The fees per year is $250 per student and we are requesting that you share with friends to enable us to cater for the orphaned youth.  Kindly share on your social pages, churches, groups and clubs to expand our donor family.

Once again thank you so much for your commitment and sacrifice towards this huge achievement.
