Dear GlobalGiving community, friends, and supporters,

The corona pandemic has also hit our plans of traveling to Ukraine to educate children on risks posed by landmines and other explosive ordinances. 

Nonetheless, we worked hard to design the Mine Mark Online Mine Risk Education Platform (OMREP), and we made huge steps toward a functioning prototype. Therefore, we are glad to inform you that we are almost ready to test the OMREP prototype. However, due to lasting travel restrictions, we will start that vital step within the Netherlands and other European countries. Nonetheless, we are optimistic to conduct at least one visit to Ukrainian schools in 2021. 

Furthermore, we used the last three months to promote Explosive Ordnance Risk Education by organizing an Online Exhibition with the title: "Peace and Dreams: A Child's Perspective". Showcasing drawings by children living in current and former conflict zones (including Azerbaijan and Ukraine), it provides a child's eye view of war and their dreams of a more peaceful world. These are juxtaposed next to drawings made by children raised in peaceful countries. The Online Exhibition gave answers to questions like How is armed conflict seen through the impressionable eyes of children? How does it trigger their visions of a better world - and most importantly, how can we collectively re-imagine a world where children can play freely and safely?
