You Helped Stacy!

When Stacy called us she was distraught. She was a military spouse in Germany. Despite counseling and numerous appologies from her husband after violent episodes, the abuse continued. The week before she contacted us her husband had strangled her. She just couldn't take it anymore.

We worked with Stacy for several weeks helping her consider her options and outcomes. Stacy decided to report the violence to the advocates in the military and took the steps she felt she needed to be safe. Stacy is home now in the USA because of donors like you. She is getting counseling and taking some time to take care of herself. Stacy is strong and hopes to help other military spouses experiencing domestic violence once she gets her life re-established.

Thank you so very much for helping Stacy! The AODVC Team.

Kathy is safe with her children because of you!

When Kathy came home for Christmas with her children, she knew she wasn't going back to France. She contacted us as soon as she arrived and asked us to help her.

Kathy moved to France 1.5 years ago for her job. Her husband joined her and found a job. The more she moved up in the company, the more her husband became abusive. Kathy was happy in her career and her children were happy living in France, learning French and experiencing a different culture. But the abuse was too much. Her husband was also beginning to abuse the kids and she wanted to get home to the USA.

Kathy feared her husband would file a Hague Petition to try to force the children back to France. He did. We were able to secure an attorney for Kathy because of donations like yours. Even though her husband filed a Hague Petition, Kathy prevailed and was able to keep the kids in the USA.

Thank you so much for helping us keep battered American mothers with their children!

You Helped Daria & Rain!

Daria had been living in Bulgaria with her husband and daughter Rain for just under one year. Daria called us after her husband became angry after she came home late one night after going out to dinner with friends. He threw her against a wall, called her names and accused her of cheating on him. It was the second time in a month this had happened. Their daughter Rain watched both times, crying and screaming. Daria told us that her husband had been verbally abusive in the past but she feared the violence was escalating. They had been to counseling but it seemed to make her husband even more volatile. She did not want Rain to grow up thinking it was okay for daddy to hurt mommy.

We safety planned with Daria. After her husband left for work one morning,we arranged a taxi to pick Daria and Rain up, take them to the airport.Back home to the USA we placed Daria  & Rain into a shelter, connected them with local resources and helped pay for them to get into their own apartment.

Daria & Rain are so thankful to donors like you who helped them come back home to the USA!
