30 Minutes On The Phone Saved Becky's Life

Becky called our crisis line last month terrified, in fear of her life. Marie, one of our case managers, was able to conduct a lethality assessment with Becky, helping Becky realize she needed to get out of the house immediately with her daughter, Emma. Marie got them into a hotel room for the night.

That night, when her husband came home and found Becky and Emma gone, he went into a violent rage, destroying Becky's clothes and personal belongings. He left messages on her voice mail threatening to kill her and Emma if he found them. She turned over the messages to the police. Becky and Emma are in a safe place and we are working on getting them home to the USA.

"If I hadn't gotten out of the house, he would have killed me. I was paralized with fear. You don't know how much it meant to me to speak to Marie. I think she saved my life."

We want to thank you for your donation to this project. Every year hundreds of battered American mothers call our crisis center for help. This Mother's Day, if you are able, please consider another donation to this project to help keep our crisis line operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We wish you and the mothers in your life a very Happy Mother's Day.

Angie Is Safe Because Of You!

When Angie called us in February, she was afraid to speak to an advocate at the base. She wanted to speak to someone but, because of how bad the abuse from her husband was, she knew her report would not be kept restricted. Our case manager Ava understands how traumatic the abuse has been for Angie. After a couple of months, Angie decided it was time for her to leave with her son. She didn't want him to grow up thinking abuse was normal. Ava worked with a domestic violence advocate on the military base overseas and they were able to get Angie and her son to a safe place

Angie thanked us over and over again. We want to thank you on Angie's behalf, because we know that without donations like yours, we would not have been able to help Angie.

If you are able to, we hope you will consider making another donation to this project this Mother's Day to help other military moms in crisis overseas.

We wish you and the mothers in your life a happy Mother's Day!

A Call To The Crisis Line May Have Saved Tammy's Life

Crisis Line Advocate
Crisis Line Advocate

Tammy called us from a payphone in the middle of the night, barefoot, in the cold and rain. In a rage, her husband came after her with a knife. She bolted out the door and ran for her life. She had seen our website and had memorized the number, but had been too afraid to call. One of our advocates, Zeena, was able to get Tammy into a hotel for the night where she would be warm and safe. We got Tammy into a shelter in the foreign country until we will be able to get her back home.

The crisis line is a vital link to safety for victims. Donations like yours help save lives every day.

Here is a quote from Tammy: "If I hadn't have called you, I would not have known what to do. I don't speak the language here. I was so alone. I didn't think anyone cared. Knowing someone believed me made me feel so much better."

Thank you so much for your donation and for your belief in our mission.
