Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area has been able to pivot to meet the changing needs of the children and families we serve because of the support of people and organizations like you. Most recently, your generosity allowed us to operate a virtual learning academy for children participating in online education while their parents were at work. For many families, virtual learning not only posed a challenge because of the parents' need to work, but for many, lack of technology, internet access, and language barriers were also an issue. With your support, we were able to set up distanced classrooms to enable 60 children from 8 different schools to be successful in their online education. We have since also reopened our after school program with reduced capacity, for kids once in-person class resumed. Families rely on us to care for their children, and because of you, we have continued to meet their needs during this challenging time. Thank you!

Update on COVID-19 Relief Programs from BGCSCA
By Elizabeth Beas - Director of Development
Thank you so much for your generous support of the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area's COVID-19 Relief efforts. Your gift allowed us to deliver over 8,000 meals to families in need in the early days of the pandemic. Since then, we have reopened for summer programming to allow working parents to return to their jobs. With your support, we instituted a new operating procedure that ensures a safe, socially-distanced environment for 50-100 youth daily. We know this new school year will bring additional challenges for our families, and we will be here to support them because of your generosity. We have committed to being open all day during the school year until school resumes as usual.
Our Club has always been a lifeline for working families in our community, and COVID-19 has made our mission more vital than ever. Kids need our committed, talented staff to guide their development, especially in the absence of in-person learning. Parents need a safe place to take their kids so they can work to support their family. We are only able to meet these needs because of your commitment to this important work. Thank you for your partnership in helping many of our community’s most vulnerable recover from the effects of COVID-19 closures. We, and they, are forever grateful!
