Memorial Trust Society is to strive hard for the betterment of underprivileged sections of the society, particularly the coastal community with focus on women empowerment, alternate livelihood, health and sanitation, conservation of natural resources, agriculture, climate change and disaster mitigation and adaptation.
Flood Disaster Response at Tamil Nadu, S.India
 
Since the middle of November 2015, massive rainfall of coastal Districts of Tamil Nadu, India has resulted inundation. The flood in Cuddalore & Thoothukudi districts are worst affected. Nearly 300 people died, 1.8 million had damages, and 2 lakh hec. agricultural fields damaged. Although the Govt. declared early warning, the community did not grasp them properly. CONSERVATION OF NATIONAL BIRD OF INDIA
 
Peafowl, the Indian National bird, is protected under Indian Wildlife Act 1972. They are hunted for feathers, fat and meat. Though the transport, transfer and trade in the peacock tail feathers are exempted, the incidents of high mortality in some areas denote poaching. So, the project aims to provide awareness through street theatre/seminar/IEC for local populace. Promotion of organic farming in Thoothukudi, India
 
This project will work with 300 farmers in promoting organic farming. South Asia's largest chemical fertilizer industry is in Thoothukudi,so the usage of chemical fertilizer has gone up significantly. Therefore the soil has lost its fertility. Conserve bats in International year of bats, India
 
Bats play important part in ecosystem.They play an important role by eating insects (Eg.mosquitoes and crop pests) and pollinating plants.As a result of superstition and fear,many bat species are threatened by poisoning and habitat destruction.We aim to protect their habitats by educating community to understand and ecological services.We will create awareness through Seminars,Workshops,Documentaries and competitions.We have planned to build bat houses in order to protect the endangered species. project reportread updates from the field
Enhance health of 900 SaltPan Women in South India
 
14% of India's and 70% of Tamilnadu's Salt production is from Thoothukudi. It has lot of underground saline water, extracting salt from 1500 salt pans. There are more than 7000 women working. These women work from 7a.m to 4p.m under the hot sun. As a result they suffer from various health Hazards (Defects in eyes, skin & wounds in feet). We will enhance the health conditions of selected workers through medical camps & Trainings, Eye camps, Referral for eye surgery, Provision of protective gears. project reportread updates from the field

As Thoothukudi District is the port / Harbour district so many truckers migrants & sex workers are numerous. So HIV prevalence is more So the Children Infected AIDS (CIA) also plenty Already we served with global giving I & II phases Still their need is enormous.
