Core Values - Dependence on God - Transparency and Accountability - Passion for excellence - Team work - Integrity and moral uprightness - Effective communication - Respect of ideals Our Philosophy Holistic Peace Ministry seeks to work in a holistic manner and in partnership with like minded humanitarian and development organizations to impart vocational and life skills to beneficiaries in the selected areas to realize their potential for sustainable development. We shall raise awareness through advocacy, support the vulnerable and train those identified by the community and religious institution and organizations to become change agents in society. Holistic Peace Ministry has various programs it run and some of this programs include: Peace and Reconciliation, trauma healing, mediation, micro finance, Adult literacy, Gender Based Violence (GBV), sack gardening, provision of scholarships to students in secondary schools, promotion of girl child education with sanitary pads among others in refugee camps. Peace-building and Reconciliation: this program addresses the need for peace-makers and conflict transformers by training them through organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, consultations on peace-building, conflict resolution, forgiveness, trauma healing, mediation and dialogue and conflict prevention. It facilitate an enabling environment where marginalized communities become effective agents of conflict prevention and peace-building, to support inclusive stability and development in South Sudanese refugee settlement camps with the host community. Trauma healing program: Holistic Peace Ministry (HPM) has had the opportunity to provide trauma healing to victims of violence. In Uganda HPM has helped many South Sudanese women refugees who have been raped, the widows, and the traumatized by war and other events. HPM's programs have helped many to turn to God, forgive their perpetrators and move forward in their lives and this has worked very well although the need is still overwhelming if more support was available. HIV/AIDS is real and is with us today and causing threat as the number of people getting infected daily is rising. HPM focus its work on internal HIV and AIDS mainstreaming including addressing stigma and discrimination, and in working with, and building the capacity of organizations of people living with HIV/AIDS. HPM also focus its work on facilitating universal access to treatment, care and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS, building AIDS competence among communities and will look for partner organizations HPM will work with and capacity building for networks of people living with HIV to engage in evidence based advocacy and in policy change processes at local and national level. HPM is yet to start focusing on this important program with the refugees when and if funds are secured. Gender Based Violence (GVB): HPM look forward doing a thorough gender analysis, particularly on the position of women who live in a society that expect them as women to be obedient, respectful, faithful, submissive and custodian of culture, women's rights in the family to make decision on cultural values and beliefs that have put women in dis-empowering - a position where decisions have to be made for them. As such HPM seek to mainstream gender concerns within all its work in true transformative senses of mainstreaming through workshops, meetings and awareness raising interaction with local communities and refugees included. Women Empowerment: HPM policy is to build the capacity of women in business skills through training. The training will empower women economically so that they can start different kind of businesses of their choice through HPM advice and providing them with saving loans. This program has already been started and the demand is very high and needing more funds to be injected on the project. Adult Literacy is another program that HPM is aiming at starting it as demand is so high among the refugees who many of them cannot read and write. There are so many refugees who are interest in this program of adult literacy training. Provision of scholarships to secondary school students in Uganda. Such provision of scholarships to children will encourage students to put much effort in studies making them enter universities in Uganda and when peace comes in their country they will go and develop their nation with enough human resource to carry on with the work.
