Resource Center

We want to use this opportunity to thank our wonderful donors whose financial assistance has helped this organization in make the lives of the villagers we serve worth living .

Achi’s mission of reaching the unreachable , improving  the health of rural dwellers one village to the next, helping  those identified with chronic diseases, like diabetes and hypertension, to self manage their condition through health screening , health education and maintenance program. In our six years of medical outreach in rural villages of Africa, we have made amazing discoveries about the prevalence of chronic diseases and the high mortality rate among these rural dwellers.  We have been able to reduce  the mortality rate by 95% of the individuals identified during screening. This was done by educating them on disease process, prevention of complications and self management. Also by making  medications  and testing  materials available to them.  There has been a tremendous decrease in the blood glucose and blood pressure levels of these individuals with diabetes and hypertension.

Our goal is to have a central place where these people could go to collect medical supplies for wound care, diabetic  test strips and machines, and follow-up laboratory work. The center will be used for classes on chronic disease management and for support groups.   We have a building for this for project that needs to be renovated to serve the purpose.

2011 Annual Health screening In Seven Villages

Thanks to all our donors for making it possible for us to conduct the 2011 health outreach in seven villages this year. We saw 2048 adults, and 43.7% of the people seen have Hypertension and 11.7 % have Diabetes. We also dewormed 603 children during the outreach. As a result of the card system initiated last year, we were able to evaluate the effectiveness of the year round maintenance program, and the result is promising. There were many diabetic patients with lowered A1c and good blood glucose numbers, also large number of hypetensive cases with lowered blood pressure levels. We hope to include the six villages that were left out this year due to funding, in next years outreach. Our goal is to have a resource center for supplies, scheduling of classes to teach these individuals on how to self manage chronic diseases, and form support groups.   The villages covered this year are Avutu, Umungwa, Amakohia, Umugolo, Nkwerre, Ogwa all in Imo state Nigeria, and Aro-Ajatakiri In Abia state.

2011 Medical Mission Trip

It's time for our annual medical mission trip to Nigeria!

ACHI would like to thank everyone who has made a contribution towards our cause!

The number of villages we are visiting this year has decreased, last year we were fortunate enough to visit 12 villages. The current status of our funds cannot support 12 villages so we will only be visiting 7 villages and conducting a total of 9 outreaches this year.

We have purchased medication and supplies worth approx. $15,000 for this year’s mission.

As we visit the various villages we will keep you updated on our progress.

We thank you again for your continued support as you are helping to provide quality health care to rural villages in southeastern Nigeria.
