We are dedicated to achieving excellence across our eye health verticals - rural community outreach, clinical services and patient care, education and training, research and innovation, rehabilitation and sight enhancement services, and eye banking. These activities are all interlinked and coordinated in a manner that addresses patients' needs at different levels of intervention. Growth has been a natural path, measured in patient volume, levels and magnitude of medical, scientific and managerial expertise, communities reached and impacted, and professional networks created and enlarged. The Institute is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaboration Centre for the Prevention of Blindness and a Global Resource Centre for VISION 2020 LVPEI network offers comprehensive eye care to all segments of the population and also to the underserved rural communities with its pyramidal model of eye care delivery covering all levels of care - community, primary, secondary, tertiary and centre of excellence. LVPEI focuses on economically disadvantaged groups in rural and urban geographies and extends our services to them through 210 networks of eye care centres. The LVPEI network comprises a 'Centre of Excellence' in Hyderabad, 3 tertiary centres in Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, 19 secondary, 3 City Centres and 184 primary care centres that cover the remotest rural areas in the four states of India - Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Karnataka.
