Your Generosity is Life-Changing

I founded Career Girls on the belief that girls have the right to dream big and achieve their dreams. Your generosity makes this a reality.

Over the past year, you’ve helped us educate millions of girls on career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and other fields.

What an eventful year it has been! Here are a few of the accomplishments that your donation to Career Girls made possible:

  • We brought our engaging educational curriculum directly to girls in Rwanda and the U.S., inspiring the next generation of leaders.
  • We produced new high quality videos to bring the voices of women role models in STEM careers to the forefront, including collaborations with MIT’s Inclusive Innovation Challenge and the Toyota Research Institute.
  • We piloted new ways to bring girls together safely and virtually, including a week-long virtual AI Summer Camp that inspired girls across the United States. Check out our Medium article linked below to learn why AI is an important field for girls.

Your support made life-changing work possible. We could list more examples, but we want you to hear directly from Elina, one of our Career Girls Virtual Campers.

Elina found Career Girls transformative because she saw, So many role models who look just like me thriving in careers where they are just as smart and persistent, and just as acclaimed and praised as the men beside them. The role models were so inspiring!”

Career Girls’ work would not be possible without donors like you. Thank you for being a donor and friend! Your generosity allows us to educate and inspire girls like Elina to become the next generation of leaders.

With gratitude,

Linda

Celebrating Global Citizens!

Over the past few months, we took a deep dive into the impact that Career Girls had on 100 girls in Rwanda last year. We inspired these girls to think hard about their futures and opened their eyes to new STEM opportunities and other fields.

But even more importantly, we trained them to think of themselves as Global Citizens. One 10th grader from White Dove Girls School in Rwanda said this: “There are girls who are out there who do not know what they want to be. And they’re important, because it’s the world and they need to be global citizens.”

Many of the girls in Rwanda face significant challenges at home, school, and their communities. The life skills of resilience, hard work, and confidence are universal, worldwide skills essential for girls and women as they begin their careers and make their mark in the world as global citizens.

As one of our Rwandan Career Girls, Jane, said: “What I have learned is to be confident. I am unique.”

Thank you to all the NGO partners who participated in our Rwanda program - we appreciate all of your hard work! And finally, a message to our global citizenry of Career Girls everywhere: you are unique

Our project in Rwanda would not be possible without donors like you. Thank you for being a Career Girls donor and friend! Your support is essential and allows us to reach more girls who are unsure about their futures every day.

Girls Imagining Our Futures

Career Exploration With Girls in Rwanda
Career Exploration With Girls in Rwanda

Did you know that only 34% of young women in Rwanda opt to study the sciences in university? And even after they graduate, young women face even more prejudices and obstacles, with gendered assumptions limiting their opportunities in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.

Career Girls brings the voices of role models in STEM careers to the forefront, so that girls throughout the world have the courage and confidence to study and work in STEM. We brought this same mindset to Rwanda, when partnering with Starlight Rwanda to bring 100 girls with the information they need to know to build their own career in STEM.

After the second session of Career Girls’ program in Rwanda, which was entirely focused on STEM careers, our partner Maureen had this to say: ”I’m very inspired by today’s session. Many of our girls did not know many careers in STEM. I’m very happy we got to see other careers that they did not know about.”

Emelyne, one of our Career Girls in Rwanda, added this: “My career dream is to become a computer engineer. I know how I can change my words through technology and I know how I can develop my career.” Our future progress will be created and imagined by STEM leaders worldwide...and we need more women and girls imagining our futures.

Our project in Rwanda would not be possible without donors like you. Thank you for being a Career Girls donor and friend! Your support is essential and allows us to reach more girls every day who are unsure about their futures.
