There is a lot happening not only in Turkana, but also in Germany

Habari,

“Habari” is a swahili word and means “How are you”. We, the Learning (students) and Working Lions (graduates) are doing just fine. Down here in Turkana as well as in Germany there are a lot of things happening these days. But see for yourself!

GRADUATION OF A NEW COHORT - WITH EVERY DONATION WE GET CLOSER TO OUR DREAM TO BUILD OUR OWN CAMPUS
This month we celebrated the graduation of another 30 young, motivated students from the Basic Training which was enabled by generous donations. Out of 300 applicants, we were only able to give 30 a chance to participate in this life changing training. As sad as it is to reject this many hopeful and most probably very talented young Kenyans, we are looking with a positive mind in the future. With each donation we are getting closer to our dream to build our very first own campus at Lake Turkana, which will have the capacity host up to 500 students at once!

FIRST OWN LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE PUBLISHED
Last month we launched our very first own Magazine called DUST23 and presented it during the inspiring, colourful and breath-taking cultural festival which is happening every year in Lodwar, the town we are located in. Our Magazine focusses on the lives and talents of the people living in this town by telling nice and inspiring little stories that are happening here. To support our young talents and get to know our home a little bit better, you can order your own copy here: matthias.dunkel@learninglions.org

A NON STOP 100KM MARSCH IN BAVARIA IN SUPPORT OF LEARNING LIONS
There is one more thing that just happened we want to tell you about. Last weekend around 300 people participated in our very first donation hike called “Lion Trail (Loewenmarsch)” happening in Bavaria, Germany. The aim was to hike 100 km in 24 h with only a few breaks and no sleep. For each kilometer hiked  friends and family of the participants promised to donate a small amount. It was our biggest event of the year and a real challenge. So far, we received a lot of positiv feedback and if you have happend to miss out on it this year, do not be sad, there might be a next time!

This is all the news for now, I hope you enjoyed this little update from Lodwar and you will stay connected with us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Kwaheri,

Stefanie from Learning Lions
