Orange County United Way fights for the Education, Health, Housing and Financial Stability of every person. We envision a community where our youth receive a high-quality education, struggling families are on the path to financial independence, our next generation is healthy and thriving, and everyone has a place to call home. In 2014, Orange County United Way adopted a ten-year communitywide action plan to create a positive future for the next generation of our families and their children: FACE 2024. FACE 2024 guides our work to Fund, Advocate, Collaborate and Educate on four interconnected issues. Specifically, our goals are: Education: Cut the high school dropout rate in 1/2 through early grade reading, increased middle and high school math and science skills, and college and career preparation. Health: Increase the number of healthy children by 1/3 by implementing programs that reduce hunger, prevent childhood obesity, and increase access to health care. Housing: Cut the number of homeless and housing insecure children in 1/2 through an effective rapid re-housing model and to reduce chronic homelessness through our United to End Homelessness initiative. Income: Reduce the percentage of financially unstable families by 25% through financial stability initiatives for individuals and working families.
