Mission

OUR START Fatu Kollie founded the organization in 2010, just a few years after coming to the United States as a refugee. Consumed by her belief that every Guinean child should have a right to education and a chance to escape poverty, she set out on ambitious humanitarian efforts to establish a safe house for the street children of Guinea. In this house, children are provided for, fed well, entertained and educated in the local government operated school. Today, supported by her own family funds and funds from friends and well-wishers, ITAVA operates a residential for 26 children taken off the streets, orphans and those with no one to care for them.
