Through Ufanisi Women Group's activities and programs: poor rural populations in Kisiwa location are transformed and empowered to grow healthy and economically, be literate and intellectually upright, and realize full potential and sufficiency in their lives and adequately participate in socioeconomic development of their communities; which is a secret to true human development that plants seeds of solid personal achievement for every person to be looked upon as a whole in respect to physical, economic, social, cultural and spiritual dimensions. The goals of Ufanisi Women Group (UWG) are promoting water and sanitation in water stressed rural communities in Kisiwa location; promoting leaning environment and educational and academic outcomes of poor children; fighting common killer diseases and boosting health of poor, undeserved and marginalized populations in and around Kisiwa location; empowering extremely poor and vulnerable populations especially women and youths economically through initiating need based and demand driven enterprises for them and training them in livelihood skills and vocational courses; fighting gender based violence, social inequalities and injustices against girls and women; promoting food sufficiency through provision of farming advisory services, training and farm inputs to extremely poor and vulnerable populations; and promoting nutrition through productivity of profitable, high-rich vitamin and nutritious crops and livestock. Objectives and key activities of Ufanisi Women Group (UWG) are to promote leaning environment and educational outcome of poor children through construction/ renovation and equipment of needy primary schools with classrooms, water and sanitation infrastructures and learning resources; to promote water security and sanitation in water stressed communities through creation of boreholes and rain-water harvesting systems, water piping, protection of existing open and dilapiladated spring wells through construction, conducting WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) education, and provision of sanitary facilities like pit-latrines; to alleviate abject poverty through initiation of demand and needy driven community based micro-enterprises for poor and vulnerable populations like dairy goat farming and training extremely poor and vulnerable youths and women in need and demand based vocational courses like tailoring and making of re-usable sanitary pads; to support extremely poor and vulnerable populations to produce more food and nutritious crops and livestock and their products through provision of farm inputs and livestock, and training in crop and animal husbandry and modern farming technologies and improved farming practices like greenhouse farming; and to fight sexual violence, inequalities and social injustices among women and girls through speaking out against injustices and inequalities, research, advocacy, lobbying, protests/ demonstration, networking, capacity building and trainings.
