School Chalen Hum...

Dear donors, friends and supporters, thanks a ton for your valuable support to help this rural poor tribal families, GVT really appreciate your generosity.

Believe in yourself is the first secret to success!

As mentioned earlier GVT works in the rural tribal areas of Bharuch district in the state of Gujarat since 2001. We have seen many issues which force the families and especially the girls who don’t get or complete the higher education, higher education here means 5th or 8th standards. As in the villages there is schools up to 5th or 8th standards due to total numbers of the students and other Government rules and regulations. After completing 5th or 8th the students have to travel to the nearby villages and this is the most affecting reason for families not to study further of their children specially the girl child. Most of them take admission but do not go regularly to the schools become irregular or get dropped out.

GVT has seen many girls who have continued their studies after providing the bicycles, irregularity in the school and dropping out has reduced. Which has been remarkable change GVT has made till date. Though GVT has not able to achieve the target, there are many girls still not getting the education and remains home after the village level schooling.

I would like to share one of the best examples of a girl child. Reshma studying in 8th standard. She lives in a village called Gumanpura. In this village there is a school up to 5th standard, after that the students have to travel to the nearby village at least 5km. Most of the students get dropped out after completing 5th standard. The school teachers contacted GVT as many students are not getting the education after 5th standard.

Reshma got the bicycle in 6th standard, she is now in 8th standard, while interacting with her, she shared that she is very lucky that GVT has provided bicycle to her. She told that my career might end up if I did not receive the bicycle, bicycle will change my future.

Thanks again for your valuable support.

Shaping the Child's Future!

Dear donors,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust (GVT).

I would like to share the project update with one example of a village. It is very interior village in the block of Jhagadia, Bharuch district, Gujarat. The village has very less transport facilities, most of the people belong to tribal community.

There is one government primary school up to 8th standard, in that the total vacancy of the teachers are 4, but only two teachers have been appointed. (The teachers do not wish to join such interior villages) Apart from these two teachers, one female teacher is on maternity leave (since last four months). So one teacher has to teach all the students of the school, as well the administration work of the school.

Because of this many students are becoming irregular, and those who come to school the teaching dose not happen. Parents are also not aware on the importance of education and do not take any action on this.

The teacher raise this issue to their line managers, and they came to GVT. GVT tried to find out eligible person who can teach the students. Harshad (name changed), has done his PTC (Primary Teacher Course), and he was finding difficult to get government job nearby his village. He has to move from his village, but as the condition of his family he was not able to leave his village and family.

GVT contacted him, and asked to teach for his village school. He was ready for this, as teaching is one of the most interesting area. He has joined teaching from last month. GVT has observed that he teaches very well to the students, also help the other government teacher in his work so that most of the time they can allocate for teaching.

GVT is trying fill out the gap, by putting para teachers in the school. The child’s future is in the hand of the teachers but there are very less teachers appointed, and those who appoints in the interior villages dose not join the school.

Let us make the change in the society.

Foundation for Future

Hello Donors,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch and also from the students who are supported by you.

Sometimes education means a lot for some families, who are totally deprived. Education becomes only a hope for them and also a long term investment of the families. In the earlier report it has been mentioned about the condition of the villages and the communities resides here. The economic development in the society has not able to change their lives hence it has become worst for some communities.

Khushboo, was referred to GVT by her school teachers when she completed her 12th. She was the youngest daughter of her mother, she has lost her father in an accident years ago when she was very young, and she has two sisters. All the three sisters are studying in private colleges, she has started doing BA in this academic year. But when she completed her 12th her mother was not ready to send her for further education as she was not able to justify the expense of other daughters. When this thing heard by Khushboo’s teachers, they contact GVT to help this girl by providing educational help.

GVT has always come forward to support such children for their higher education, Khushboo’s mother works as a contract gardener in a company and earns very less to survive, also to pay the fees of three daughters it becomes very difficult for her. GVT has seen many such cases, some children are orphans, some are one parent, some parent are not able to afford and many such issues.

It could be better if you people can be the foundation for such students.
