Thank you for supporting our project

Lamp of the path
Lamp of the path

Since 2004, Lamp of the Path has operated a Community Centre in Ulaanbaatar, which provides poor and homeless individuals with hot nutritious meals 5 days a week, as well as free clothing and medical assistance.

In 2013, Friends of Humanity continued to support the soup kitchen which has helped save many lives of people living in excruciatingly cold conditions and improved the nutritional status of many children entering school.

They continue to offer food to homeless and poor people 5 days a week as they have since the beginning of the project. For these people this is the one hot meal a day they are able to receive in extreme weather conditions which was minus 33 Celsius when the accompanying photos were taken. Also in conjunction with the hot meal they are able to use the other services the Community Centre offers including free medical attention and free clothing and foot wear.

Solo mothers have a very difficult time in Mongolia especially if there is no family support. But even with providing a daily meal it is often not enough to sustain milk production for nursing mothers. These mothers and babies are monitored by the Health Clinic, which is in the same building and when required mothers receive extra rations and often food to take home. Despite this it often happens that for nutritional reasons the mother’s milk will dry up. When this happens the soup kitchen provides supplementary food for the child.

This project is well supported by you and we wanted to thank you very much for your donations in 2013 and early 2014.

Feed the homeless in the coldest city of the world

 Dear All,

Thank you very much for the generous spirit of all our patrons who have made it possible for us to continue with our services for the most vulnerable homeless people of Ulaanbataar for the last eleven years.

Although, material development has been remarkable for this century, through science and technology but basic human problems and needs still remain to this day to be resolved. This is true for all of us who have fallen off the track of life's success and hit the road of desperation and poverty.

In the city of Ulaanbataar the soup kitchen from the Lamp of the Path-NGO stands to make a difference in the lives of those of us who have fallen under hard times. Although the winter of 2013/2014 has not been as severe as the last one, yet the number of beneficiaries seeking the support of the soup kitchen has grown to number at least one hundred. The number of beneficiaries does increase during the winter months as there is far less work available.

Winter is the most expensive time frame for our budget as the cost of utilities skyrocket and the additional cost of providing winter clothing and boots take a toll on our budget. Moreover, this year we had the added misfortune of have frozen water pipes from the well to the kitchen that brought on the added task of carrying our water from the well to the kitchen in wheel barrow.

The soup kitchen is serviced by our warm and friendly Mongolian lady cook who really has her heart and soul in the service of the homeless, going the extra mile in the making of the food, reaching out to them and befriending them.

Thank you for your support this year!

The purpose of this project is to support the Lamp of the Path NGO Soup Kitchen to feed 80 homeless people in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

Thanks to your donations people receive hot meals 5 days a week. Those people are poor, homeless or/and sick. Moreover, locals are involved in the maintenance of the Soup Kitchen The community and local authorities are very supportive for the work of this NGO. However, one of the results of this report is that the organization needs more funds to carry the project until the end of the year as the support of Friends of Humanity is projected to last only 5 months.

Life in Mongolia can be very hard, but FPMT has been of great benefit for a lot of people – benefit for the body and benefit for the mind.

Thanks to your donations homeless people are still having a worm soup and bread rolls for dinner.

We thank you very much and encourage you to keep donate for this project.

Make a donation to make someone happy in this Christmas season.
