Our mission is to stop the flow of African-Americans to prison. We are a Christian faith based charity that serves people of all faiths or no faith at all. On the national level our mission is to stop the flow of all Americans to prison. Globally, our vision is to support alternatives to the prison industrial complex. We are a Christian faith based charity that serves people of all faiths or no faith at all. On the national level our mission is to stop the flow of all Americans to prison. Globally, our vision is to support alternatives to the prison industrial complex. Locally, we significantly disrupt recidivism for our mentees through our award winning Red Sea Crossings Mentoring and Scholarship Program. We provide 24 hour re-entry mentoring to formerly incarcerated African-Americans and those at risk for incarceration. Ninety percent of our mentees remained out of prison between 2008-2014. We provide highly trained one on one mentors who are matched with a mentee for one year. Matches are renewable indefinitely. For example, Bondel served 16 years in prison for armed robbery. He came to us and was matched. He used his scholarship to help pay for a degree in human services and graduated on the Dean's list at our local community college. Myra Byarm used her scholarship to complete a college degree in business. She went on to complete two Master's Degrees and now she has been a member of the governing board for over seven years. Our vision is to create a more sane, humane and safe world where color and class discrimination cease to contaminate justice and its resources and punishment as the answer to criminal activity is replaced by atonement, reconciliation, restorative justice and secured mental health treatment. Services include evidence based re-entry mentoring modeled after leading criminologists recommendations, job preparation, job placement, community engagement, housing and transportation, street rescue and recovery, educational and vocational support and referrals. On the national level, in 2015, we were the first organization ever to hold a congressional symposium on ending mass incarceration. We seek your support to bring our organization to scale and replicate the mentoring model across racial and denominational lines. When we first started Exodus Foundation.org it was difficult to garner financial support because few donors or foundations wanted to provide direct services in the South where our headquarters is located. Unlike our partners in the northern and western United States, we have faced significant challenges as an African American female led and formerly incarcerated led organization. Over half of our board members have been at risk for court involvement or served prison time. Our footprint does not match our budget. Join us as a giver and champion so that our budget reaches the magnitude of our vision. We have a ten year strategic plan. We are focusing exclusively on building our infrastructure to care for our missionaries and care receivers before growing any further. We are transparent, and we would love to have you as part of the Exodus team and family. Let's change the world together. Love and restorative justice is the answer. We do not have a crime problem. We have mental health problems in the U.S. and around the globe exacerbated by structural inequities, social control, human rights abuses and persecution of already hated groups.
