Solar shelter kits - the new temporary home in PR

Dear donors,

Our shelter kits are providing an alternative to those that lose their properties during the recent earthquake in PR.  It is an excellent reliable and fast solution, mostly for those in need of some special care.  Among them, we are also providing camping tents, solar light, solar fans, and water filters.  There are approximately 7,000 people living on the streets.

We are working on a new plan with other companies looking forward to bring 15 more units.  This unit will be used by the family selected, while they are relocated or their house fixed.  Once that happened, the shelter kit will pass it forward to another family in need.

By the use of this model, we amplify the number of families benefiting by this kit, extending the impact of each of them.  At this moment from only 3 kits that we have on the ground, more than 55 people have been impacted.

Thank you for your support.

The satisfaction behind Pay It Forward

If helping your people in an emergency, seeing their smiles, feeling their hugs fills you with satisfaction, the feeling when you do it for a total stranger who lives thousands of miles from you, is incomparable.

The challenges to reach the Bahamas, permits, government clearance, logistics and the thousand and one questions that filled my head while coordinating this impact, were worth it. To know, that you could bring relief, hope and a clear and forceful "You're not alone" message is indescribable.

Puerto Rico is not yet recovered from Hurricane Maria, from overwhelming government instability and now, daily earthquakes that have our people living on the streets. However, when Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas, we got up, joined and managed to cross 128 pallets full of supplies and commodities.

The combination of pride in the deeds of ours mixed with the eyes of hope and gratitude of those who received them is an experience that will take with me as a stimulus and guide to continue paying forward.

Do the test yourself and you will see the immense sense of achievement that floods your soul.

Thanks for your support. You, me and everyone, we did it.

We can't sit back! - Mission Update January 20, 2020

Dear supporters,

If having faced Hurricane Maria and all the sequel of situations that uncovered with her passing over our Island was not enough, now facing a phenomenon as unpredictable as earthquakes put Puerto Rico in a very delicate situation.

Not only public infrastructure is not prepared, but the foundations of thousands of Puerto Rican homes that continue to break as the days go by are making the situation harder to deal with.

However, the most painful side is the one is not seen. The mental health, restlessness, and feeling of helplessness that tens of thousands of families live day by day.

HOME must represent for each human being its safe, sacred place. However, at this time thousands of families, single mothers, older adults prefer to sleep in the streets, in their cars, in improvised camping areas, in public places because they are afraid to return home.

The situation in Puerto Rico is critical and it is imperative to attend to the communities and prepare them constantly, in order to face situations like these.

Puerto Rico Rises has a firm commitment to the education and preparation of ours. We can't sit back and wait for another disaster. We must take action and it is NOW!

Thank you for your support and for having our beautiful Island, close to your heart. We will get up!
