Whats going on with public castration events?

Regular public castration days are an important part of our daily work on site.

Due to the winter and then the COVID19 pandemic, we were not able to castrate owner dogs as originally planned.

Now that the restrictions due to COVID19 are slowly being relaxed in Romania as well, we can get back into planning.

During this time, of course, the dogs continued to be neutered in the shelters and at the request of dog owners, their dogs were neutered in veterinary clinics - but even that comparatively little.

This time was unfortunately a bitter setback for us - but our animal welfare activists are working on quickly carrying out castration days here again.

Even if we cannot give not so positive news due to the situation, please stay at our side, so that we can pick up speed again

Review of the last winter

Winter again in April
Winter again in April

The last winter as such was thankfully not as cold as other winters, but still we had to provide all dogs with straw in the huts again and again. And in April, when we all thought the winter was over, there was another heavy winter break-in for about 1 week. In the winter time the dogs need more food. This also means higher costs again and again.

After the last mission in December 2019, during which roofs were once again vigorously built, there was another short mission in February to record dogs. This is also important so that the dogs become visible and have a chance for adoption.

This meant that for the rest of the time our animal welfare activists and their workers had to do everything without any support from volunteers. The COVID19 pandemic made things even more difficult.

The not so cold winter has brought us a tick explosion especially in Bucov, which we have to fight now.

Please continue to support ProDogRomania e.V. in all our projects and from about October 2020 on it will be 'Facing the winter' again

Warmly and stay healthy

Bettina

Continuous improvement of the puppies' situation

Together with our local animal welfare activists we are trying to improve the situation of the puppies. This includes also building of new kennels forthe youngsters from last year puppies and providing medical care for new arriving puppies.

Just now that I am preparing this report, we are receiving more and more reports with fotos from our animal welfare activists in Romania that more puppies are being given away.

But there are also positive moments in our work on site. Exactly when puppies just given away are adopted by Romanians on the spot with the promise that they will be neutered when they are old enough.

Our main goal to castrate owner dogs has unfortunately fallen victim to the current events (COVID19). As soon as this is possible again we will resume this goal.

Please continue to support us so that we can provide puppies with the necessary vaccinations, tick protection, good food, medical care and huts.

warmly and stay healthy

Bettina
