Therefore, how they are addressed is different. Children are our main target group. We have Separate organizational structures for children. We are also operating in schools, universities and other educational institutions. Various programs have been launched for them. Programs are implemented for them on the following. 1) Educational programs under various topics that suit the goal 2) Conducting camps such as Environmental, Leadership Training and Personnel Development (The programs are so successful that a child in grade 7 of our child club in 2007 is today our chief secretary.) 3) Our next target is a youth community. We have plans for young people. We will address them through programs suitable for young minds. They have rendered a special service to sustain the life of the organization. 4) We have built a separate organizational structure for the elderly who are our target group. Knowledge, experience and social relationships in adults are highly needed in our organization's success. Pilgrims and excursions are organized for them. We are also able to use the opportunity to share their experiences with their peers as well as for social work. 5) In our organization also have an opportunity for intellectuals and professional. They do not have time to meet regularly as often as other groups .Communication through Email and social media and meeting held every three months. Their guidance is necessary to take the organization to the right direction. Below are some of the programs that have been undertaken to overcome our objectives over the past 25 years. 1) We created Sri Lanka's first and only " Kodigahakanda (Flag Mountain) Community Conservation Sanctuary We have proven that the best way to conserve ecosystems and forests is by community . We were able to make the community more environmentally friendly by promoting the livelihood of the community. We have built a biodiversity center in this sanctuary. The center has been providing services not only to the village community but also to the national and international communities providing various services. Visitors from both local and foreign tourists come to study the biological diversity and get the experiences of natural forest. One day hiking program for school children will be held on two days, three days environment and leadership training camps. Training programs for livelihood development for women will also be held at this place. We built an Eco adventure park in a natural forest. In Sri Lanka we start and maintain SPORT CLIMBING programs. The only place in Sri Lanka for Sport Climbing is Kodigahakanda. ( For more information visit www.climblanka.com) 2) Intervention on regional and national environmental issues Following are some of the national environmental issues we have intervened. 2.1 The National Shramadana (Working voluntarily) of the 'Eulex' Invasive Hermitage at the Horton Plane National Park was launched in 1999. Throughout the year. No supportive aid was received for this purpose but the program was carried out with the assistance of the people School children, youth groups and various institutions of the island participated in the program voluntarily. 2.2 People's struggle to protect the Phosphate deposit in Eppawela The Eppawela Phosphate Deposit is considered to be the Nation fertilizer treasure. The then government was ready to sell it. We actively intervened in the struggle for the people against this act. 2.3 We also contributed actively and actively to the struggle against the leasing of 5 forest systems, including the Sinharaja Forest. 2.4 We were able to play a leadership role in the mass struggle against the management of the water management act aimed at the privatization of water. 3) We used art wisely to bring the environmental outlook and ideology to the public. Street dramas, music and songs were the most commonly used. Our unique exhibition greatly contributed to bringing our programs to schoolchildren. This exhibition is an entirely addressing to intelligence and logic. 4) Sustainable agriculture is another area in our focus. We implemente the 'Good Agricultural Practices/ GAP' to encourage farmers to do so. This process reduces the currently used chemicals by 50 percent. Finally, the farmer completely excludes chemicals and becomes a organic farmer. In this process, implementation of seed banks and making the farmer a certified farmer. This certification is done through the PGS and Sri Lanka Certification. 5) Solid waste is a major problem in Sri Lanka. As a solution for this, we were able to implement 'Environment Fair' program. District Health Medical Officers' Office, State Sector, Local Government Institutions, Non - Governmental Organizations and Volunteer Organizations in the area, Private sector and jointly carried out this program. Here, all waste that can be recyclable will be carried on separately.by the people. It will be purchased there. In addition, there are also eco-friendly sales outlets at the site. 6) Our organization contributed to another significant milestone in 2002. The Earth Summit was held in Johannesburg, South Africa that year. It was named as the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). Our organization was given the responsibility of preparing the Citizen's Report for this.. We traveled to 200 villages in Sri Lanka except the Northern Province and met school & University children and the rural community. Firstly, we made them aware of the major environmental issues that arose then in Sri Lanka.. A mobile exhibition set for this was used for this purpose. Subsequently their views and suggestions were obtained. The Citizenship Report was incorporated with our Best Practices with those ideas and with the sustainable development. 7) We have implemented climate change mitigation and adaptation programs. For Mitigation Contributing to increasing green forestry Promoting biogas technology Reduce the use of fossil fuels and Influencing government's on alternative energy sources in the production of electricity For Adaptation Introducing local varieties that are resistant to extreme Drought and Flood Collecting information about bio-indicators and socializing it Gathering information about traditional knowledge and to provide the farmers with this knowledge, Preparation of cultivated calendars and motivation of farmers to work accordingly 8) We have also fulfilled our international obligations. Our contribution to the international environmental seminar (2005) which was held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. We are a member of the Organizing committee of People's SAARC Sri Lanka Council. We at the 2008 Sri Lanka Summit gave our fullest support to the success of this conference We participated in the People's SAARC Summit in New Delhi in 2010. 9) From the beginning, we were willing to work more closely together rather than working individually. Accordingly, we connect the environmental networks of the country. The Sri Lanka Green Movement, Sri Lanka Nature Forum and the PCDSD Network are some of these networks. Our organization was the Secretary of that network. But in the present situation, we need an extensive national movement. Our attention has been focused on this goal these days. The National People's Movement is now being built to unite all environmentalists, as well as professionals, artistes and all other forces. 10) We will be launching a number of special programs for our 25th anniversary.
