Progress on finishing the interior is underway, but progressing slowly. There are several safety features that must be finished, prior to opening to the public. There are several fundraisers planned to assist in accomplishing the following:
Install outer fencing Install several interior safety gates Install gates in north dog kennels Install sinks in laundry and cat rooms Install lobby reception desk and finish work Train additional volunteers
A “soft opening” is planned once the above has been accomplished. The public needs a safe place to meet dogs and cats without the fear of getting hurt. The volunteers need a safe place to train, clean and care for the animals.
Your contributions have been instrumental toward building a fully operational shelter.
Thank You for your support.

Newberg shelter animals enjoying new facility
By Jan Floren - NASF 2012 President
New Shelter as of August 2012
Thanks to our donors, the new animal shelter is now housing the dogs and cats. The animals have been moved from the old shelter to the new shelter. The new facility has floor heat, washer and dryer for clean laundry and other amenitites. However, there are many rooms not finished and the building is not open to the public at this time. The cat room is not completed. We need cages. The north dog kennels do not have gates. The south kennels can house about 8 dogs. It is expected to take about 6 months to finish the interior and train new volunteers, before opening to the public. We will need more volunteers to handle the additional pet intake, once the building is complete.
The City of Newberg and NASF are working together, along with volunteers to completely finish the interior. Many fundraiser's are planned for spring and summer to cover the costs.
We are thrilled to have come this far in the project. Now, we need to tie-up the loose-ends and make this a shelter we can all be proud of.
Thank you for your long-term support and for following our progress. The shelter has some great dogs, if you or someone you know are interested in a long-term, satisfying friendship. Please continue to support us, now and in the future. We have just begun!

Newberg Animal Shelter - New Years Update
By Jan Floren - President
It's a new year and we are pleased with the progress of the building construction. The kennels and floor of the new shelter are in the process of having epoxy applied. The floor heat is now working, thanks to the hours of labor donated by DP Plumbing.
As soon as the epoxy is cured, measurements will be taken for kennel gates. There are a few other things that need to be done before the animals can be moved from the old shelter to the new one. Our first priority are the necessities needed in order to 'house' the animals. With the floor heat now working and the kennels finished, the animals should be able to be moved. Our first consideration is keeping the animals comfortable and healthy.
Thank you for your past donation, this has helped us get on the track to complete this project. There are many rooms to finish and equipment to purchase, but the animals will be moved soon, into a dry comfortable new building, thanks to your donation.
