Dear our respected partner,
As you know the focus of the organization is to reach marginalized children and families especially single mothers who are struggling to support their children and child headed family (orphan) who lost their parents and become responsible for their younger siblings. The main support areas includes: supporting children’s mothers in income generating activities; provide school materials and tutorial class for school children with snack and preventive health education for both group to create health seeking behaviors’.
Currently, the organization is working to assist 58 underserved women to engage in income generating activities and to support 134(67 male and 67 female) children of Yeka sub-city Wereda 08, who is vulnerable to school drop-out and assist to successfully completion of their education. The school support includes: School material, tutorial class on basic subjects, English and Mathematics with snack three days per week.
Most of our organization activities are managed by freelancers and volunteers, from all professions and community workers and the majority of the organization support comes from in country contributions such as members, individuals, social group, companies, and institutions. However, the organization has a good track record in effective and efficient utilization of limited resources which are collected mainly from local including the contribution of concerned and good hearted citizens.
In this Ethiopian new year, 2020/2021, we planned to support 134 school children, 67 girls and 67 boys with school materials and tutorial classes with snack , unfortunately, because of the finance limitation that the organization face, we are addressing only 80 needy students.
The ongoing activities of the school support program in this quarter was more focused on tutorial classes of English, Mathematics and ethics as usual. We managed the tutorial class by grouping the students in three class, which ranging from KG to Grad 8. It is because of financial limitation.
We could also providing snack: milk with bread of Fafa relief two days in a week and “Chechebsa” Traditional local food which prepared from Fafa relief and butter with tea one day in a week for our students before the classes. Our tutorial class teachers are all par timers and volunteers and they tried to provide for the students issues which did not covered by the regular class.
Students dropped out rat reached very low and the academic performance becoming better when we camper it with their previous performance because of the support we provide. The change we observes on them is not only on the academic performance but also on social interaction and public speaking too.
It is all done by the contribution of you, we really apparition your support so fare in changing the life of needy children’s, without your contribution we couldn’t do the job.
In this quarter because of the COVID – 19 pandemic many of our school children and their family suffer in many ways there for by the Grace of God, we could provide the following food items for each 58 school children’s family: wheat flour 5kg, oil 1 liter, pasta 2 piece, tea bag 1 (100gm), life by soap 8 piece, face mask, 2 piece. They are very happy and thankful for what they have received as COVID 19 support since most of them were not able to job as a daily laborer.
Therefor we kindly encourage you to donate regularly so that we can provide them according to their needs.

Currently, the organization is working to assist 58 underserved women to engage in income generating activities because some mothers left the group by their own reason through time.
The raising income for 70 single mom’s living in Addis Ababa project is continuing the implementation of the ongoing activities of the project during the COVID 19 era too. In fact we couldn’t able providing like training or big meeting to them as we planned as usual but we could assist them to made their weekly meetings on open air and providing other kinds of timely support like food items.
Activities performed in this quarter related to income generating activities were:
The women able to discuss on the weekly meeting on open air for one hour on their problem and its solutions
Perform weekly saving that help to engage and to improve in income generating activities by using it as startup capital, so as to improve the family income and life.
One of the mother/ members started new job in our office as a cook for our 80 school children snack.
All of the ongoing activities under the economic empowerment division in this quarter were going well in spite of the current challenge, COVID 19. The entire four groups called: Tesfa Lenge, Yenge Fery, Edget Lefray, and Edget Behbret saved on their weekly meeting from 5-10 birr for the last three months. Their saving helped them to initiate them to engage in businesses activities and to improve their small businesses. Many mothers’ improves their business by taking loan from the group capital in this quarter too.
In this quarter because of COVID 19 burden we could provide the following items for 58 women’s, each: wheat flour 5kg, oil 1 liter, pasta 2 piece, tea bag 1 (100gm), life by soap 8 piece, face mask, 2 piece. As mentioned above it is our long time plan, improving the living condition of 58 female headed families residing in the slum community of Yeka sub-city, Wereda 08 to improve the family livelihood, but we are forced to wait long since the organization does not have the capacity to give training that equipping them to start and to be successful on business. The training, Basic Business skill Training will take five days.

Thus, we encouraging you to support us regularly to bring changes in life of 58 women and their family. .

School support for 80 orphan Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Date September 26/2020
Dear respected partner,
This is a project report on school support for 80 orphan children Addis Ababa.
Introduction
Yengat Birhan Charity Organization is an indigenous humanitarian organization established by a volunteer health professional, as an Ethiopian Residential Charity, in June 2016, and re-registered on May 24, 2019 with number 3645. Its mission is to empower poor and disadvantaged individuals, family and communities, by helping to actualizing their latent potential through integrated family development programs. The project was designed to respond to the problems of disadvantageous families’ especially single mother or child headed/orphan family by provides innovative and comprehensive support related to their economy, children education and health.
Currently, the organization works in Addis Ababa Yeka Sub City, woreda 08 slum. In this quarter our project called School support for 80 orphan children in Addis Ababa were implementing the ongoing activities of the project. In fact we were not providing or implemented as what we planned at the beginning of the year, because of the COVID – 19 Pandemic, but we could provide other kinds of timely support. We hope you know and will understand how the current pandemic affect every activities on the world at large.
The ongoing activities of the school support project tried to assist 135 very needy school children’s family by supporting some food items as part of the school support since they were in need of it.
Now a days the ongoing activities are more focused on supporting the school children’s family by strengthen their economic part mostly by giving regularly food times for them in order to feed their children.

Major activities performed during the quarter

As we all knows the educational empowerment program is to support school children to facilitate access to education and to perform better through providing education material and tutorial classes as the project objective is to improve access to education and to improve academic performance for school aged children
For the last four years the school support program provided support include school materials such as school uniform, school bag, Exercise book and tutorial class that focused on English language and Mathematics with snack. The tutorial classes were once per week (Saturday) from 9:00am to 12:00 noon mostly done by volunteers’ teachers.
In this quarter under this program as mention above we could not perform the usual support but could provide food items and related materials that helps for the prevention of the pandemic for 135 households, whom belongs to the needy schoolchildren. The support materials include the following: 2 litters of cooking oil, 4kg of Macaroni, 5 pieces of hand washing soap, 2 bag of Tea of 100gm.

Organizing additional donations

Currently our major work of the organization shifted to organizing resources both as in kind and financial both locally and internationally (through GlobalGiving) in order to give more timely support to our beneficiaries. In this quarter we received a donation both in the form of in kind and finance that gave us potential to support the needy timely to minimize the damage. We are also forming a partnership with some organization which found in Addis Ababa in order to get more resources to sustain the needy life.

Obstacle / constraints
In this quarter, even though Yengat Birhan, faced major unexpected problem, COVID - 19 that affect the implementation of its activities, we are still doing our best in supporting the school children’s by all the means in spite of having small donation. This is because of almost all of the organization activities were managed by Par time and volunteers, from all professions but one thing we should share for you is we need additional support still to sustain the food items support to them if the pandemic persist since the children’s families are found in a very low economic states to feed their children.

Therefore we remind and encourage you to share our objective to your family and friends to sustain the very poor life during this COVID 19 pandemic.

We are very thankful for your contribution, without your support we couldn’t have an opportunity of sustain others life in this pandemic.
Remain safe!
