Quarterly Report - September 2012

Meal time at Little Hearts Orphanage
Meal time at Little Hearts Orphanage

Dear Donors, Friends and Well-wishers of "little HEARTS orphanage",

We are happy to talk to you through this Global Giving quarterly report through the River Fund, USA who has been supporting the children since 2005.

From this academic year 10 more new children joined at “little HEARTS orphanage”. All the new children are 6 to 10 years old those lost their mother or father or both parents.  After joining at LHO these new children are looking good and feeling happy. Now we have 45 children!  Now the “little HEARTS orphanage” is packed with children and 3 full time staff! The balance and gap between rich and poor are growing drastically!

As a registered NGO we always respect child rights.  Children have given freedom to think and practice their rights.  “little HEARTS orphanage” always seems to be a family rather than an institution closed with compound walls and big gates.  We hate to keep children between walls and big gates.  This is also one of the reasons to keep children happy.  Whenever festivals come we send children to their villages to celebrate with their grand parents or relatives those who are interested to go to join with their beloved ones.

Feeding children with nutritious food like milk, egg , chicken, fish and fruits regularly.  Every month at least twice or thrice local people visiting children with cakes, chocolates, pens, pencils and some times with lunch or dinner. Last month one Muslim brother donated Rs.14,000/- for children’s school uniforms.  This is the biggest donation we have received ever.  I have forwarded latest pictures of children.

This academic year we have taken 4 HIV infected children but these 4 children (2 girls and 2 boys) are supported by The Right Now Foundation, U.K. with monthly contribution of Rs.800/- to each child.

Costs of all commodities are up now high and monthly budget also went up to Rs.50 to 52 thousand from this academic year.  We have been regularly receiving funding from the River Fund, USA. We are spending all of your support wisely.  There will be no wastage of money.

Due to increase in number of children from this academic year we have appointed one more tutor. One tutor for 15 children.  Each tutor will be paid Rs.2000/-.  All these 3 tutors are qualified and teaching all the 6 subjects.  Educating children is our main priority.  Two girls are now studying 10th standard.  They go to outside tuition from 6PM to 8:30PM regularly.  For these two girls we have paid Rs.5000/- for this academic year.

Our sincere thanks to all of our Donors for their kind donations and love once again.  See you all with more news in the next quarterly report.

Kind regards,

More girls enjoying their dinner.

Here in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh it’s really very hot unbearable summer this year! Nearly 46 degree Celsius recorded. To escape from these heat and hot waves we have sent all the children to spend time with their grandparents, single mothers and relatives. Government had declared summer holidays for all schools and colleges from 23rd April to 14th June.
All the children will arrive on 15th to attend schools and all of our children got very good marks in all the subjects.
Ramu, one of “little HEARTS orphanage” boy secured 92% marks and was not satisfied with the marks he secured and again we paid fee for improvement to secure nearly 97 or 98% of marks in his 1st year Intermediate college studies! We always encouraging and appreciate his hard work.  Where there is pain there is Gain as we all know.
From next month we would like to attach monthly expenditure form for our donors and supporters to understand how the money is going on.
