Expanded Fish-farming - Fully Funded

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives and Respective Donors,

Recently, Leadership Initiatives created its first fish-farming program in Birshi Nigeria. This program created jobs for ten subsistence farmers, and allowed them to save countless lives by offering affordable mudfish, which helps solve the vitamin B deficiency issue in the surrounding communities. Because of your generous donation, the Birshi Fish-farming group will now attempt to expand their program to new regions of their state saving lives, creating jobs and building community infrastructure by attacking malnutrition with affordable food. There has been erratic rainfall over the course of several years, which have left farmers with drastically reduced harvests. Many of the villagers in Birshi Nigeria are now suffering from malnutrition, which includes the previously mentioned severe vitamin B deficiencies. Additionally, village infrastructures have deteriorated due to a lack of resources with which to make repairs. The Birshi Fish Farming expansion project will replicate the success of Birshi by creating new fish farming in surrounding areas and by creating jobs.

Our students create novel solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses in: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. Currently, through expanding Birshi Fish Farming, there will be an increase in an affordable source of Vitamin B to their region. This project will also create fifteen new jobs, which will teach the individuals new farming techniques. These techniques include utilizing used fish water and rain retention to rebuild their damaged farming areas. Furthermore, fish not large enough to sell will be distributed to the sick and the elderly, which will save more lives.

Because of you and your generosity, we have been able to continue our efforts and develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.

Leadership Initiatives will be regularly providing updates and insight into these projects as the month's progress through GlobalGivings reporting program. Of course, at anytime you can request a project update to learn up to date info on how this project is progressing.

As a supporter of " Create 15 Jobs and save lives Fish-farming", Leadership Initiatives would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate or have new ideas on how to develop our programs please contact me at mbailly@leadershipinitiatives.org. Your hard work and intelligence is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.

Thank you once again from the bottom of everyone's heart here at Leadership Initiatives. If you would ever like to speak to our staff on the ground, a project leader, one of our Business Alliance student participants, we would love to set up a Skype chat for you, so you can personally see the change you are creating.

Wishing you, your family and your friends the absolute best!

Sincerely,

Marshall

Bringing Electricity to Makaranta - Fully Funded

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives and Respective Donors,

Because of your generous donation, Muhammed Abuel will be able to achieve his dream in bringing power back to his village by creating the community’s first electrical repair shop. This repair shop will service not only his village, but also a twenty-mile radius, which gives many of these areas light for the first time. Currently, Makaranta is plagued with failing infrastructure that has left homes and entire blocks without access to electricity. Electricians must make constant repairs. However, there is no electrical repair shop in the area to complete them. This project will attempt to solve the problem of deteriorating electrical wires by creating a non-government based service to villages that will not only repair broken infrastructure problems for a small fee, but will create new ones in areas that will allow the village and surrounding villages to grow once more.

Our students create novel solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses in: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. With this current project, the electrical repair shop will train the owner and four other partners in electrical repair and wiring over the course of nine months. This program will help the community rebuild their power supply. Additionally, this project will create a self-sustaining system for electrical repair and electrical growth in the community. It will also stop citizens from being dependent on government offices for these services. Instead of waiting for over worked government employees, citizens will now be able to use the local repair shop to bring electricity to their homes and businesses. This repair shop will change the way hundreds of people live, and it will give them opportunities to learn and grow the shops in new ways.

Create 6 Jobs for the disabled - Fully Funded

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives and Respective Donors,

Because of your generous donation, jobs will be created for young men and women who face physical disabilities in Bauchi State. Currently, life for these individuals is especially difficult because they endure several social stigmas in a region where unemployment is already high. Due to their situation, they are frequently reduced to begging in the streets in order to survive. Through your funding, an Internet café and print-shop will be created, which will be employed with disabled individuals in Yelwan, Nigeria. This project will disprove the common belief that disabled individuals cannot maintain employment or learn complex skills. With proper training, these disabled men and women will be given the opportunity to live independently.

Our students create novel solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses in: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. Currently, through funding this Internet café and print-shop, the disabled community leaders will be able to undertake extensive computer training sessions and receive a personal computer with basic business and financial training as part of the program. In addition, Leadership Initiatives will teach computer processing, Internet navigation and photo editing skills to local leaders with a wide range of physical limitations. It is expected that the graduates of this project will open their community’s first Internet cafe and print shop. This project will become a beacon to those with disabilities, and demonstrate that they can hold jobs and own businesses with hard work and determination.
