60 more girls get skills in making reuseable menstural pads

With support from Global Giving, Organisation for Community Empowerment Lyantonde (OCE) has empowered 60 girls  together with  their senior women teachers with skills in making reuseable menstrual pads. In the review period, the organisation has extended the project intervetion to benefit  three more Primary schools namely; Kalagala Moslem, Kyabbuuza and Kasambya in Lyantonde district.

The organisation has completed the process of securing materials to construct a sanitary faciliity for St. Benedict Kaliiro Primary school; the first school to benefit from the project.  The second water purifying system is to be installed in Kyabbuuza primary school.  All processes to this effect have been completed.  Pictures will be shared in the next report.

We wish  to appreciate  Global Giving through which partners are able to support development projects that are geared towards improving the quality of school enviroments for the benefit of the girl child. In the same spirit we appreciate  all our partners  that donote towards our work. Thank you for enhancing our capacity to reach out to such vulnerable girls.

    Safe water at school improves qulity of life

    With funding from GlobalGiving Organisation for Community Empowerment Lyantonde ( OCE) was able to intall a water purifying system at St. Benedict Kaliiro Primary school in lyantonde District in south western uganada. According to the Head teacher Mis Bena Bakechura " Having clean and safe water at school has significantly contributed towards improved quality of life for  pupils  and their daily attendance. This is because children are no long suffering from water borne diseases it was the case before". Mis  Bena said . This water purifying system is currently serving over 600 school children  who are able to get clean and safe drinking water while at school.  We are grateful to GlobalGiving  for giving us such  a plat form where generous people have been able to support vulneralbe children in Rural  schools.

    Over 600 school children to benefit from clean and safe drinking water at school

    Over 704 ( 404girls)  school children to benefit from clean and safe drinking  water at school. Organisation for Community Empowerment (OCE)  with funding from Global giving  has finalised  intallaration of  a water purifying system to Kaliiro Primary school, one of the targeted primary schools in Lyantonde district. According to Mis Sebin Bakechura the school Headteacher, "This water purifying  system  on top  creating a childfriedly school enviroment, has improved the  health of pupils,  since they  drink  clean and safe  water  that is free from water borne diseases. It has already started on reducing the cost of maintaining pupils at school. This is a motivation to both  teachers  and pupils to enjoy school time  leading to  pupils  improved academic performance more especilly to the girls" the head teacher said.

    We are excited for this  achievement  that has seen our orgainsation  extending this kind of support  to children in  such  a rural school in a remote  area . We account this achievement on global giving  without your support we would not reach this far.
