August report 2020

In ednica, we support two groups:

1. Boys, girls and adolescents and their families who work on the streets of Mexico City.
2. Adolescents and young people who live on the streets of Mexico City.

Unfortunately, with this health emergency, they have been extremely affected and thanks to the support of each and every one of the donors who have joined this campaign.

With this support, together with other partners, we have been able to obtain food to help families who work on the streets and whose income has been greatly affected by the health and economic crisis.

On the other hand, homless young people, who already lived in difficult conditions, have less income, because they support street stores or ask for people's support. They do not have spaces to take care of their hygiene and their food is deficient. For this reason, with your donations we have promoted actions of emotional strengthening, spaces for the care of their personal hygiene and support for them to prepare their food.

During this period, we have established protocols to avoid any risk of contagion in them and their collaborators and we make referrals to specialized medical care spaces, if necessary.

Thank you very much for trusting us and for helping us not to leave them alone.

June 2020 report

Before the health emergency, the boys, girls, adolescents and families who work on the streets and who are the target of this project, were in conditions of poverty, affecting their food security; now with the health emergency, the situation has worsened even more, since, being dependent on the informal economy, their income has been affected, which has repercussions on their diet and on the care of their physical and emotional health.

They come from contexts where their right and access to health is nil or very limited, due to unhealthy living conditions, poor nutrition, exposure to pollution in the streets, as well as their few habits of self-care for their health.

With the health emergency, we have not neglected our population. On the one hand, we keep in touch with the children's families to monitor their health situation and support them with a pantry and some donations that we receive, since their economy has been affected by the decrease in sales on the streets, which is what they keep.

Similarly, through the use of ICTs, we have kept in touch to develop actions of emotional and educational support and accompaniment to solve this health and economic crisis.

Thank you for your invaluable support.

february 2020 report

In ednica, we defend and promote human rights so that children and young people can build a dignified life project.

We are very happy to be 30 years old. Our greatest satisfaction is knowing that many boys, girls, adolescents, young people and their families, in a street situation, have managed to build success stories and have an opportunity to change their situation.

Again, as an example, we share with you the testimony of one of the girls who attends our community center in Colonia Morelos in Mexico City.

My name is Cristal.

I am eleven years old and I am in the sixth year of primary school. I will soon enter secondary school, although I am a bit scared.
In ednica, I've learned addition, fractioning, how to solve math problems, quantity composition, etc.
It has helped me in school because now I understand math more.
I have also learned to improve my reading and writing, sometimes we read aloud, some things about writing, spelling, and above all, I have learned how to understand better what I read, that is called "reading comprehension".

We know that this would not be possible without the support of those who have joined us in being allies in our work. Thank you for your trust!
