The organization has been founded by the Medical Oncologist and Cancer Patient, Dr Ana Casas, in 2014. Because of this special issue, we are specially devoted on working to create ties of union between professionals and patients to fight together against cancer and empower patients to being able to get the best of themselves to face cancer with hope and confidence. We empower cancer patients through providing them with the best information about cancer and sharing their needs with professionals. We put the Voice of the patients first and try to keep them aware of the management of the illness so promoting a better communication between them and their professional teams. We promote clinical and traslational research through collaboration with Independent Groups of Clinical Trials and Research based in Spain as SOLTI Breast Cancer Research Group. We try to achieve through microfunding donations for cancer research, at this moment addressed on a Metastatic Breast Cancer Project. MISSION. Fundacion Actitud frente al Cancer's mission is to achieve a true, confident and realistic attitude for all people at risk and patients living with cancer. CORE VALUES. Working together with scientists and nonprofit organizations to reach our goals. War against Cancer will be successful only by joining the forces of all cancer bodies. OUR ACTIVITIES: . We promote symposiums and workshops where patients, doctors and nurses meet together so doing possible to share their opinions and doing networking for a better relationship, to increase patients knowledge on the illness and having a better perception of patient's needs by professionals. - We encourage patients to be informed and we spread knwledge about scientist cancer advances, prevention, self-care, new drugs and devices and the correct use of genomics presently. We organize Workshops on Clinical Trials, Cancer Genomics, role of multidisciplinary teams in Cancer Care etc., - We promote healthy activities, physical exercise, better nutrition, body and mind techniques ( yoga and mindfulness ) for the wellbeing of cancer patients - We have created a social support group mainly focused on the needs of breast cancer patients, through "Creamos Lazos frente al Cancer de Mama", working since 2014. Own page on FB is "Creamos Lazos frente al Cancer de Mama" with more than 1.100 members presently. - We promote honestly and fearlessness information to inspire and support patients positively, enhancing their own value system and to be positive and optimistic for the future. - By doing microfunding we promote clinical research through the collaboration with Cooperative Clinical Research Groups mainly in breast cancer ( SOLTI Group ) Until presently, most of our work is done in a volunteer way, freely and without honoraria. Dr Ana Casas. President CURRICULUM VITAE Ana Casas MD, PhD, is a Breast Cancer Consultant and Tutorial Professor at University Hospital Virgen del Rocio (HUVR), Sevilla, Spain and has over 40 years of experience. Her main areas of expertise are Breast Cancer and Supportive Cancer Care. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine & Medical Oncology in HUVR and was certified by the Ministry of Health in Medical Oncology in 1983. From the beginning of her career she has always been directly involved in the care of cancer patients. She has also been Consultant in the Headquarters of the Andalousian Health Administration for the Regional Plan for Cancer Control (1988-1991) as well as for the National Plan for Cancer Control. Dr. Casas has been Medical Director at HUVM (1994-1996) and HUVR (1998-2000). She received an MBA in Health Economics from Barcelona University School of Economics-Pompeu Fabra (1993-1994). She has been external fellowship visiting NCI -Division Cancer Prevention and Control- (1987) and NYU Hospital (2006). She is involved in different cancer projects and clinical trials in Medical Oncology in the areas of Breast Cancer, Bone Metastases and Supportive Cancer Care (particularly on the integration of QoL principles and Patient Related Outcomes -PROs- into Oncology Care -Cancer Pain, Anemia & Neutropenia, Nausea and Vomiting etc ). She is an active member of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) -former General Secretary of his Board (2005-2007), Continuing Cancer Care Group, -former Coordinator of his Board ( 2005-2008) and present General Secretary (2011- ), Andalousian Cancer Society ( Award, 2005) and Spanish Health Economics Society. She is an active member of GEICAM Group and SOLTI Breast Cancer Research Group -presently Coordinator of Institutional Relationships ( 2012- ). She is author or co-author of more than 100 publications in cancer care. Dr Ana Casas was awarded by the Real Academy of Medicine of Sevilla (2008) where she is presently an active Corresponsal Academic Member (2008-). Since 2013 she has been dx and treated from Breast Cancer. She has promoted a Foundation against Cancer, 'Actitud frente al Cancer' and a social network of cancer patients "Creamos Lazos frente al Cancer".
