Meals on Wheels People

The mission of Meals on Wheels People is to enrich the lives of seniors, and help them maintain their independence, by providing nutritious food, human connections and social support. We also use our expertise and capacity to serve other nutritionally at-risk populations. Our vision is that no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation.

Mission

The mission of Meals on Wheels People is to enrich the lives of seniors, and help them maintain their independence, by providing nutritious food, human connections and social support. We also use our expertise and capacity to serve other nutritionally at-risk populations. Our vision is that no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation.

Programs

Meals on Wheels People provides 5,700 meals to hungry seniors each weekday at one of our 30 neighborhood meal centers throughout the Portland metro area and as Meals on Wheels delivered to homebound seniors by caring volunteers. More than 500 people volunteer each day to help realize our vision that "no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation". Meals on Wheels People provides homebound seniors with daily visits from caring volunteers, often the only contact these elders have with the outside world. Meals are served to anyone age 60 and older in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties. We also provide weekend and holiday meals to seniors who have no other access to food and are at high risk of malnutrition.
