Monitoring

Muraho!

This is a very exciting summer! We have just completed the first round of implementation and there are now three fully-functional rainwater catchemnts systems in the Cyanika community! This summer we sent seven students to Rwanda to help the community construct these systems, and everything turned out to be a great success! You can read all about their adventures on our blog here: http://ewbrwanda.blogspot.com/

Our program is now back in the design studio and working towards the implementation of more rainwater-catchment systems this coming summer. We also currently have a team in Rwanda working on monitoring the initial systems and making sure that everything is in working order. The team will also so many surveys of both the surrounding land and of the community to determine the best way to continue our involvement in Cyanika.

As a reminder, we have recently partnered with a locally-based non-governmental organization known as Village Makeover (VMO) to provide and improve water, hygiene, sanitation, and catchment systems to the Cyanika community, which is located in Northern Rwanda. Village Makeover and has worked side by side with EWB-USA CU to initiate a new project between the Cyanika community, Village Makeover and EWB-USA CU, and we are very excited to be involved!

Our systems will provide clean water year-round to the at risk members of several villages within the Cyanika community. As always, we are very grateful for your continued support and involvement through Global Giving. Thanks! Please feel free send any questions or comments to EWBRwanda@gmail.com, and make sure to check our website at http://www.colorado.edu/engineering/ewb/rwanda!

First Round of Implementation Complete!

Muraho!

This is a very exciting summer! Since our final designs for all three rainwater catchment systems have been completed and approved by EWB National, we have been very busy putting our plans into action! A group of four students just returned from our first month-long implementation trip, which was a great success. You can read all about their adventures on our blog here: http://ewbrwanda.blogspot.com/. During this first trip we laid the foundations for all three sites (which will be completed later this summer!)
