Asking help for Stray Cat - "Short-Tail"

One of the stray cats is named as “Short-Tail”; he used to come to greet me during the mealtime daily. However, I haven’t seen him for food recently. I was worried about him and not sure how’s he doing.

A few days before, one of the neighbors told me that she saw “Short-Tail” in the nearby area; she mentioned that he seemed uncomfortable and walked so awkwardly, after that he disappeared.

Finally, I could find “Short-Tail” and he was hobbling close to my place. Therefore, I brought him to the Tai O Stray Cat Home Campus and then will bring him to see veterinarian in the next morning. When he was in the cage of the campus, he didn’t eat any food at all and his eyes were full of tears. I was so upset and heartbroken to see him like this.

When we were in the clinic, the veterinarian checked “Short-Tail” and said his right back limb got burn by hot water; therefore he has fever and low blood pressure due to the inflammation of his back limb. Anyway, “Short-Tail” needed to stay in the clinic for a few days. Because of staying in the clinic for treatment, the medical expense for “Short-Tail” is about USD 3,000. I would like to kindly ask for your donation for his treatment, we greatly appreciate your donation and it will be fully used for his medical care.

At this moment, the veterinarian said “Short-Tail” fever has gone down and his condition is fine. However, the veterinarian has found out that he has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV); that means I better find a new home for him instead of staying in the Tai O Stray Cat Home Campus. FIV may transmit to other cats in the campus due to fighting or biting; also “Short-Tail” may easily get sick due to poor immune system with FIV. How could this happen to “Short-Tail”?

Anyway, please keep praying for “Short-Tail” and send blessings to him; also, your donation to him is so important. Once again, thank you for your help and support to Tai O Stray Cat Home.

Report for 2nd Quarter of 2020

Because of the COVID-19, many cat lovers and volunteers worry about Tai O Stray Cat Home’s financial situation. They keep asking me “Do you need further support?” and I said, “you all help me a lot for the past few years”.

From the Anti-extradition bill protest and up to now of this Pandemic, we do have a very tight cash flow for our organization. But I never complain the protest and pandemic, what I need to do is keep taking care of our stray cats in Tai O. As a Christian, I do believe my God has his plan for me and He always arranges the best for me. Because of my belief and with God’s help, my organization (Tai O Stray Cat Home) and I can survive up till now.

Recalled one summer, I had to bear $70,000 to $80,000 medical expenses for stray cats. I was so worried and felt the dead end in my life. Fortunately, at the end of that year, my respectable Doctor Chong told me that there would be good news for the coming year. Yes, we did get some funding for stray cats of medical expenses.

Over the past few years, many volunteers and cat lovers encouraged me a lot and helped me to apply funding to run the Tai O Stray Cat Home, which I have never expected; I really appreciated their help for our stray cats.

There are always many discouragements in my life, and I do think the predicament is so close to me and for my organization. But still, I would like to say thanks to those kind-hearted people and organizations for their supports; without them, I don’t think Tai O Stray Cat Home can pass thru year 2020 successfully.

No matter how many different voices, I still have no regrets for what I did and going to do my best for our Tai O stray cats.

Report of 1st Quarter of 2020

For the 2nd half of 2019, Hong Kong was facing many issues and the economy of Hong Kong was hard hit; as a result, Tai O Stray Cat Home received fewer donations. But no matter what’s going on, we are dedicated to taking care of stray cats in Tai O.

Late last year, there was a pregnant stray cat came down from the hill and we were able to catch her and put her into the cage smoothly. After a few days, the mother stray cat had a smooth delivery and she has four little kittens.

I was so grateful that I could save this stray cat family. Although the workload has increased again because there are still many stray cats I need to take care of at the same time, but being able to watch these four little kittens grow daily is really a wonderful thing. I know the road is still long and arduous, but we are convinced we should be able to pass through it with all your supports and donations. Anyway, I will never give up.

Fortunately, I could be able to find a new home for these four little kittens. However, after 2-month taking care of these little kittens, I am kind of reluctant to let them go. I will miss them a lot.

Since the beginning of this year 2020, it is not really a good start for Hongkongers because of the Novel Coronavirus. Hopefully, this outbreak will pass soon and we can get back to normal again.
