60 schools were benefit with our strategy No 2 are alike; during the last 6 months 592 workshops were held, with the total participation of 9,720 primary students. The success of this initiative has been overwhelming and was certified by the 300 inclusion promoters who participated actively. We closed this program with a great event where students could show some of the additional proposals developed in their schools to boost issues related to inclusion

We also hold awareness talks and information with university students, doctors and families.

There is still much to do, but we are on track. Today we wanted to make a stop on the way to once again say "THANK YOU" to those who with their contributions are enabling this change in our society

WITH YOUR HELP, MANY THINGS ARE CHANGING/ CON TU AYUDA, MUCHAS COSAS ESTAN CAMBIANDO

Cooking Workshop
Cooking Workshop

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW

 Muchas gracias!

Many great things have happened since our last report. A cooking afternoon with some of our affiliates with the support of famous chef Alex Quessep and our participation in some city events during the month of youth are only a couple examples.

Every month we keep accompanying the families of our smaller affiliates; in July we worked around the topic of sexuality and in August we focused on rights. To help implement the program of health for people with Down syndrome, we trained 300 health promoters and still continue training other professionals.

On July 1 we began with our "No 2 are alike" project, in alliance with the district secretariat campaign. The goal was to train 300 students from 60 schools as inclusion promoters. Our mission was accomplished, and now we have a great group of youth leaders performing workshops at schools to teach 10.000 little kids about this important topic. It is very satisfying for us to see the enthusiasm with which the workshops have been received in the schools of the region and we hope to continue multiplying this initiative.

This is why we want to invite you today to express your personal fight against discrimination by 3 things:

1. Take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back for your contribution, you deserve it.

2. Enter and make a USD 20 donation -this will allow 10 students to participate in a "No 2 are alike" workshop and receive the free activities booklet.

3. Invite 10 friends to follow you in this initiative by sharing our project on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Why don’t?

With your help, the best is yet to come!

Your actions today will perpetuate your legacy of generosity in the life of future generations.

Thanks!

YOU ARE INSPIRING HOPE, TU ESTAS INSPIRANDO ESPERANZA

Estimado amigo (a)

Dear friend

Yes, you are inspiring hope and creating change in people with Down syndrome life as supporters of our Intellectual disability: Busting Myths in Colombia project. We understand change takes time and it’s not always easy to see. However, step by step we are falling down barriers and myths and raising a positive vision of person with intellectual disability.

Last March we commemorated World Down Syndrome Day and our agenda was full of awareness activities. We took malls and restaurants with our myths campaign, the conference “Multiples intelligences and disability” for parents and a forum about the actual situation and challenges for inclusion of People with disabilities were performed.  A great art exhibition was also part of our agenda as well as a movie function for our affiliates; and in May we organized a teacher´s seminar. All thanks to you.

We need to continue guiding families and training teachers, and we can only do that if you continue to accompany us, please check back for updates and continue telling friends and families about the opportunity to make a change in the lives of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability supporting this project.

With warm regards.
