2020 had the potential to be a completely devastating year. Instead, thanks to our faithful God and YOU, our amazing donors, it was a year of blessings in the midst of great hardship.
Your donations were responsible, in part, for the continued and successful at-home education of thousands of children living in Colombia's most vulnerable communities. You helped us bring food to the table to families who had lost all income due to the pandemic. You helped us fund the salaries of our teachers, chaplains, and psychologists so that we could continue advising and blessing families throughout these times of great uncertainty. 96% of all students enrolled at the beginning of 2020 remained in school and finished the year STRONG! Parents were more involved and engaged in their children's education than ever. The year that should have been the worst was FULL of blessings and immense generosity from you, our AMAZING partners.
Thanks to your generosity; over 1500 families have been assisted with Emergency Food Relief in the time-period between March and September!
One such family is the Montalvo family. They are very grateful and thankful to the Lord, and send their thanks for all the help they have received over the last few months. The Montalvo's have a family business that makes very elaborate straw hats that they sell to the tourists that visits Cartagena. However, the tourists are gone due to Covid-19, so they have very little income right now. Their youngest son is a student at the Conviventia school in Cartagena and is attending classes virtually this fall since Cartagena is still a Covid-19 hotspot. Their youngest daughter recently graduated from the Conviventia school and is studying to become a nurse.
During the past few months, you chose to make a difference for children and families in crisis due to the economic impacts of covid-19 by donating to our emergency food assistance project for the communities of El Pozon, Las Americas, Cazuca and Lucero Alto, Colombia. It is because of your support that we were able to deliver critical food parcels to 200 families who had lost their only source of income due to the pandemic. With your support, together we brought hope and support to these communities when they needed it the most.
This past week our project reached full funding, meaning that your generous donations covered 100% of the costs of the outreach. We are so thankful to have friends like you that are walking with us and making it possible to deliver these important programs.
We have also just launched a campaign to help our schools and students, as well as ongoing needs for the families in these communities. You can read more about our new project on GlobalGiving at:
