Acknowledging efforts, completed goals.

Graduates
Graduates

Congratulations, graduates!

After an intense work and years of effort, the youngsters are ready to graduate from the JUCONI Programme. During the graduations, moments of joy and happiness are experienced, as well as melancholy. At their graduation, the adolescents were very happy remembering those moments they lived at JUCONI’ House and Youth House with their friends.

Accompanied by family members and educators, the graduates closed one more cycle in their lives with social, emotional and cognitive skills that will help them have an independent life and be able to reintegrate into society.

Anything is possible.

Each year, a Christmas breakfast is organized in which the educators express the efforts and achievements obtained by the youngsters. It is a casual event where there are talks, games and time for reflection.

These meetings are very important to motivate the adolescents who, due to any situation did not make the expected progress, to continue working on their goals. The youngsters share valuable experiences and future plans.

"Let's go to the museum."

Traditions are a fundamental part of our identity as a society and as individuals. As part of the activities within the Youth Club, attending recreational places is essential to the development of youth skills. For this, the Amparo Museum allowed us to have a good experience through a Christmas workshop.

There was also an explanation of the history of nativity set helping teenagers to have a better understanding of Christmas. In addition, the children tested their imagination and created a beautiful and original nativity set with corn leaves.

Working to build an autonomous life

A new member is in the House

Recently, the Youth House welcomed a new member; Julian, football fan and one of the teenagers of JUCONI’s House where children between 6 and 14 years old, who have lost parental care or contact with their families and are contacted in the street or referred by the protection system, reached the age and the necessary skills to make the transition to the Youth House. Accompanied by his family, his colleagues and his educators, we celebrated an emotional graduation ceremony at JUCONI’s House, in which we recognized Julian’s socio-emotional advances and his stability. We are so happy to continue working with him in this new stage in which he will be able to consolidate his integral development preparing himself for an independent life in which he will count with social, emotional and cognitive abilities to achieve a violence free life.

An annual race

Contained in the field of physical health, sports activities are a very important axis of the development of socio-emotional skills of the JUCONI Program. On this occasion, and as it has been a tradition for several years for the JUCONI family, the youngsters of the Youth House participated in the Chevez race where they enjoyed a morning full of emotions and fun through sports coexistence.

Five young people, accompanied by two educators, traveled to Mexico City to participate in the 5-kilometer race that the Chevez company, annually, organizes. The race represents for the inhabitants of the Youth House, a very rewarding and enjoyable experience that allows them to put into practice not only their physical condition but their emotional skills such as: containment, resilience, respect and integrity.

Building life plans

As part of the tool construction that allow an independent and violence-free life, the JUCONI Program promotes a series of workshops in which young people learn about different trades, values and ways of life in which they can approach different working ways. On this occasion, they received a new job information about the fundamentals of coffee, methods and preparation of various coffee drinks.

Similarly, two of the young people who are close to turning 18, who in Mexico represent the majority age, are performing the necessary procedures to obtain the military card.

The card is a mandatory military identification document for all Mexican males between 18 and 40 years old. Carrying out the process, means a great achievement for young people since, in addition to assuming the majority age and the responsibilities that this entails, they must carry out the procedures autonomously, since the educators act as mere supervisors who confirm that the youngsters are ready to start with their independent life.

New year, new challenges

The beginning of a new year leads us to set new goals. In the Youth House we work intensely to provide our inhabitants with the greatest amount of resources that prepare them to live in an autonomous and dignified way, so we keep learning and training in different ways to give our beneficiaries the best quality tools.

With joy and great satisfaction, we perceive that our young people have a great commitment to themselves and their own development and we are confident that they will soon be able to contribute to the construction of a better society for the benefit of all.

Thanks for trusting JUCONI!

Sincerely,

The JUCONI team

Building a peace culture

Volkswagen summer course
Volkswagen summer course

In this opportunity we want to let you know about our activities at the end of the summer and our achievements, as well as the goals we have set for the following months. Without a doubt, there is much to share, and we are very pleased to do it.

A productive summer course

During the summer, Rafael, one of our Youth House members, assisted for the second time, to a summer course at the Volkswagen factory in Puebla to learn about safety, electricity and welding that can be used in basic situations. This course represents a great opportunity for young people, who, like Rafael, traditionally cannot attend professional training courses that result in the improvement of skills and abilities, so that they can eventually obtain a decent and well-paid job. We are very happy for the achievements of Rafael who very much enjoyed it.

Day to day

In the same way, we want to inform you that the Youth House continues with its daily activities. Different socio-emotional workshops took place, in which they reflect on their respective life projects, the challenges to face, as well as the assessment of the goals achieved to raise their expectations; academic regularization courses and recreational and cultural outings, among which the visit to the baroque museum and the railway museum, two of the most important museographic precincts of the city, were the ones that the youngsters enjoyed the most.

It was also carried out the realization of a meeting between the Youth House and the JUCONI House (where children between 6 and 14 years old reside). On this occasion the boys shared different activities, where it became very evident that the oldest teenagers model the forms of coexistence of respect towards the youngest, which makes them become more aware of their roles, not only within their own social cores, but in the whole community and the transcendence of their actions in the proper functioning of society.

On the other hand, several follow-up visits were made with some graduates of the Youth House. For JUCONI it is very important to maintain contact with the young people who once attended the House and to know how their life has developed, once they were ready to lead an independent life. With great joy, we observe that most of them have stable emotional, family and economic lives, and in those cases where there are still no job opportunities, the monitoring will continue to support them in obtaining stable jobs. The follow-up work promotes attachment with the organization and the message that, although they are no longer residents of the Youth House, JUCONI has them in mind and they can count on us.

We prepare a new Congress

We are currently working very hard to have our 5th JUCONI Congress "Transforming lives, harvesting peace" that will be carried out again in the city of Puebla and in which more than 30 internationally recognized experts in their fields, will participate, together with 100 organizations and institutions from Mexico and from different parts of the world that work with children-related issues, the fight against violence, vulnerable groups and the improvement of society.

On this occasion, we will meet on October 25 and 26 at the Convention Center  of Puebla to address issues of trauma, violence, culture of peace, early childhood, childhood, human rights, among others, which will strengthen the knowledge for many people that multiplies their impacts by being included in their daily practices with a population affected by violence, poverty and exclusion.

Thank you very much for all your support.

Sincerely,

The JUCONI team
