Xenia, A Home with a Heart Palliative care for young people For young adults (approximately from 16 to 35 years of age) suffering from a serious, life-shortening, incurable disease such as cancer or neurological disease, muscle disease or metabolic disease, there was in The Netherlands no special facility in which they could stay, adapted to suit their life, until Xenia opened its doors in April 2014. Most of the time, when they could not be cared for at home, these young people had to go to a nursing home with mostly elderly patients.
